  • Losing Hate??

I hear all about how much hate Drks generate and im really starting to notice it too (lvl 16drk).

My question is: what do you guys do to lose hate?? do you stop attacking or just wait for someone to pull it off you??

any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Best way is to unlock from the target....the * button on numpad....and just face away from it for a few hits....otherwise not much you can do.

you can do that... but at lower lvls there is no reason why you should be getting aggroed in a good pt. but at low lvls its hard to find a good pt :spin: tank should provoke it, and it should come off easily. when you hit 30, thats when you notice how much aggro you get.(souleater) dont worry about it too much tho, from lvl 20-25 you make a decent tank. because that is when wars get defender. hell you can tank from lvls 20-30 if you want. we wear the same armor (heavy) as the tanks do. try not to tank when your lvl 25 tho.
how i get the agrow of me is, just cancel my buffs, and wait for the tank to take it off of me. honestly it's not that hard. and its good getting agro if you pt with a thief. fuidama.

Yeah, there's not much you can do. If you're simply attacking, and nothing else, and gaining aggro, then that's an issue with the tank, not you. There's little you can do in that situation unless you turn off attack for a few rounds, but you shouldn't need to do that.

However, just be aware that certain spells / abilities cause aggro.
So, for instance, if you're trying to shake aggro off of you, that might not be the best time to Last Resort + Soul Eater + Weaponskill, or magic burst that Drain for 150+. Mobs generally don't like that :p

          If this even helps...

Well this is just a suggestion and having never before tried it myself, its open to criticism. This can't really help you now, but later on (lvl 60+) if you sub a thf, you can use Trick Attack. That should pretty much help out with losing aggro. Having never actually used it before (although I've seen it been pulled off), I don't actually know what it can do for you  , other then somehow stransfering hate. Again, I don't know the technicals about it, but I've heard its the best way to keep the hate off at higher lvls.

That's not right, mobs love it! They come after me right when I use it. Doesn't that mean they like me?

As for the hate...I don't change anything. My parties usually have the same PLD everything, and he has the be the greatest hate keeper ever. My 305 damage WS, the mob didn't even turn. I love that.

At low levels it's impossible to have just one tank, as just taunt isn't nearly enough to keep the hate for a whole fight. At level 16 (and for awhile), all the frontliners are tanks. As long as your armor is up to date, there shouldn't be much problems.
