I am currently a level 41/20 Drk/war.My prolbems stems from using the greatsword as my primary weapon thus seriously neglecting my scythes combat skill level.I tried just about everything to raise it up so i can effectively start to use it but it isnt moving up in skill level at all and I cant use it in pt combat do to i miss every hit.Did I make a grave mistake is there anyway to fix this prolbem any suggestions would be appreciated.

eww.... ya you dug yourself in a hole, but it's not that hard to get out. backtrack. 0 points in scythe? go to lathine kill somethings... afterawhile move to valkrum kill things.. etc etc etc, by the time your 100.. it's gonna get slow from there. you can get a highlvl friend (whm rdm pld anyone who can Power lvl you 50 and +) to help you lvl ur sword and go to garilage or something...

You can level a weap from 0 to 70 facing stuff in dunes, at 67 only hardest gobs will give more skill.
When you're ready move to kazham, you can probably skill up to 80ish at 1sh jungle entrance on mandra and maybe level up to 95-100 in yohantor, too bad those place are heavily camped.
Another option are those skilling parties at lvl 50+ that go hunt for keys for af and such. You can probably get a good deal of weap skills in those.
As far as weap, scythe isn't worth much until guillotine or maybe vorpal scythe. At 33 i prefer my 2h axe by far even if it's a B+ weap for drk, greatsword is nice too.war 55 - drk 49 - whm 45 - blm 33 -nin 31 - rng 30 - Mnk 25 - sam 21 - thf 19

lol i heard vorpal sucks bigtime... but i don't have it yet so... yeah...i'm not sure. scythe is worth much because it fits into renkis very nicely/ you do more dmg. you really need to lvl g.sword/scythe together. the main reason to have a G.sword at lvls 33-** is to renki with the thief if there is one. powerslash/viper is commonly used because most people ask to use that skill chain fighting bats and bugs. nowadays tho thief isn't even wanted much because no more yokodama and pld's have flash.

Well, I WAS doing a great job leveling both Scythe and GS at the same time. However, i'm having a real problem right now. After I passed them both with 100 they slowed down to a god dang crawl. To keep it capped at each level, i'd have to use nothing but that one weapon the whole time. Even then, I have a hard time keeping it capped.
It seems to me, i've come to a fork. Either I continue leveling both of them but never have either of them capped but always a few levels behind the cap. Or, I choose one and keep it completely capped all the time. I'm leaning more toward leveling both still, but thats so damn expensive and tedious.Varo

it depends on your luck, some people claim they can max them in under an hour (I still don't believe this, the lowest I've ever capped my scyth was 2000 exp) but still, it'll get easier...I dunno stuff started cappin sooner when I hit 45ish :xMost memorable WoW vent convos on Burning Legion:

I made the same mistake as a WAR. I only used a 1hs till lvl 40. I felt with my fighting style(mostly tanking), a 1hs was usefull. It wasn't until I saw the power of the greataxe with Sturmwind, did I realize my mistake. So I bought a Huge Moth axe for 55k(there was only 2 on the whole server, so was expensive...but I had 200k gil so no biggie
). It frustrated me how long it took me to lvl up the skill. But I learned something from it.
1. No matter what lvl the mob, if your weapon skill lvl is too low, the mob will con as, High Defence, High Evade.
2. As long as they con High Defence, Evade, your skill lvl go up fast, until you reach lvl 48. Then even a IT still takes forever to lvl up your skill
3. Once the mob cons neither High Defence, Evade...you will not get any skill ups.
4. Certain mobs have a naturally Higher Defence. So even if they are weak and easy to kill, you can gain a lot of skill ups
Number 4 is the biggest clue to how easily you can lvl up your weapon skill. The best mobs with high defence are Quadavs or Crabs. So at your lvl, go to Beadeux. Since Bead is a great gil/rare drops farming area, get yourself a WHM or RDM friend to help you lvl up your skill there, and he/she can get gils/drops. You should get about 90% of your weapon skill up before it's too hard to kill a Quadav with only 1 other helper. If you still miss a lot with 90% in a lvling PT, then go help do some moderately easy quests or Mission 10.
Good luck.WAR 75/THF 37/NIN 38/RNG 49

You can try this trick...
Pull Evens/Toughs to the zone line and solo them for a little while, then pull back into the zone when your health starts to go into the red/orange/yellow (depending on how safe you want to be) and rest up. Then zone back in and start fighting them again. Rinse/Repeat. I haven't tried this yet, since right now I'm only 15/7 drk/war, but I've heard from other people that it works and is good to do when you're waiting for a group in higher levels.

Here was my dilema, I couldnt get anything maxed till about LVL 15, thats when i got my Gsword capped, by LVL 20 iu had Scythe and Gaxe caught up. All the way through LVL 30 i kept all 3 maxed, it was pretty easy becuase they maxed so fast. Once i hit 30 i could only keep the Scythe and Gsword maxed, axe was something i did while questin. At 35 it because hard as hell to keep even those 2 maxed, i did my best i would max scythe first but by the time it was i would only need 1k exp to lvl and thats all i could do to keep Gsword up and it was hard as hell.
Now granted this was in beta so ther wasnt alot of the foods we have in retail, if you used the right foods, like eyeball soup i think with the acc boost, you coulod probably keep them lvled up quite easily.
The hard part is keeping all of those up and your magic skills lvled, it gets tough but as you can see from the higher lvl guys its well worth it.

GSD not Capped?
I was fortunate to know that I wanted to be a Dark Knight since
conception. So I chose the Scythe to level with during my ride to 30th level Warrior and capped it. During that time I also chose to use a greatsword but only to level it to around 10. I knew that once DRK was obtained, there would be an awesome low level greatsword (Death Bringer)that only DRK's have the luxury of using over Warriors at that low level. So i've had no worries in having to switch back and forth in this stage of
his career. I know I will be flamed in my approach, but I feel it a
waste of time to use an Axe when I'll never be using that weapon
again as a Dark Knight.Necrosavant
