Drain/Aspir

Quick question. The quest to get Drain and Aspir is higher than the level at which DRK gets the spell. I dont have 15K+ in my pockets to spend on those spells, id like to do the quests. Can we get the level reqs lower? Would it kill someone? So what if the BLM gets his Drain spell 4 levels sooner its not like he can use it right now. Am i wrong? Am i totally out of it?

There are no level requirements to do the quests, only fame and mission level for drain because you need access to the castle. You can do the quests at any level as long as you have enough fame and can reach the quest npc. Considering DRK is an advanced job, if you are not rank 2 by the time your DRK is 10 and don't have enough fame, than maybe you need to change your play style.

Also we get the spells before the BLM as far as I remember Drain is lvl 10 (12 for BLM) and aspir is 20 (don't know the BLM level but is higher). So realy I don't know what the problem is, I got drain at lvl 10 with no problem and aspir at 21 (good exp session at 20, did not want to leave just to do the quest). And I have done the quest for both spells.

I bought Drain, and I'm doing the quest anyway, and I have yet to do the Aspir quest, went from 19-29 to quick, didn't have time to stop. I'm getting the quests done when I hit 30 and go to do some "farming".

hehe just buy the item needed then /shout any (what ever country you need) wana make 2,000 gil!!!!

Hey AvengerXP, Nice Name!

Anyhow for me a great place to gilfarm (since I started in Sandoria) would be Ghelsba Fort with either Thief as main or a Lvl 5 Theif Sub... But in any case A good leveled character (27+ maybe?) with decent equip is recommended... Anyhow you go around killing all the mid ranged orcs.... (the ones a step down from the fighters, sergeant, cursemakers, I forgot their names heh) But ANyhow they would usually give me around 30-50 gil a pop and also drops Leather Equipment at times for extra gil...

Best Bet though is do it at an odd time when there isn't many people on.... Otherwise your gonna run into a bunch of people who are hunting for that Kazham key and they always like to Clear the path for some odd reason...

Anyhow I made like a good 4K in 3-4 hours... Its a slow and repetitive process but it works for me... You see that Great sword in my avatar? Thats an inferno greatsword that I paid for by gilfarming 12K.... Took me a while to do it but it was well worth it... Good Luck all

Well....first off. Although 'raw' gil farming as some call it, where u just kill orc/quadav for the gil that they drop seems to be a good method....why waste 3-4 hours making about 1k an hour....when u can hunt for much easier items that sell for 500-1000.

A good place I find, is palborough mines....not only do you get the bonus of fighting the high lvl stuff that drops about 50 gil a peice as well, but you also get quadav backplates, fetich peices, and an assortment of other items.

Normally I hate raw gil farming cuz its so boring....so...heres what you do. Find an item in the AH...whatever it may be, but not too rare. Find one that sells in stacks of 12 for like...5-8k maybe. Then find out where u can farm that item. These sort of items most ppl just ignore and sell whenever they happen to pick one up.

Indeed, but :
1 - your original class needs to be 30 to get DRK. That's high enough to get both quests easily, given enough fame. Much easier to complete with your lvl 30 char too.
2 - it's much cheaper to quest for these spells, rather than buy them. *and*, you're going to want the fame eventually anyways.
So you might as well just break down, and spend an afternoon building fame. It's not as bad as it sounds.
Seriously. Aspir took me 1.5hrs and 2k gil to get the fame up high enough (4 stacks of bastore sardines, plus had a few quests completed already) to do.

Drain wasn't nearly as bad as Aspir either.

I am Rank 3.25 with 20 quests done and he STILL wont give me the quest. DAMN YOU VAMPIRE. DAMN YOU TO HELL.

I guess i don't have much of a choice than do even more quests.

You have to check your fame in san at the pub, and the guy has to say something like 'the people talk very much of you, you do the kingdom honor'. Then talk to the vampire guy. There is a good write up in the BLM forum on these quests, drain was on the front page last I checked and the aspir was a page or 2 back.

Seriously, I have max Windy fame ( I know, cause I fought Ifrit once already), from about 30-something separate quests and a ton of repeatable quests. I STILL can't get the Aspir quest from Hariga-Origa. Anyone have any idea what's up?

It's been a while since I did this one, but isn't the Aspire quest given by Fuepepe in the Aurastery in Waters? He's across the table from Moreno-Toreno, the guy who takes the bird feathers and mandragora buds.

Hariga-Origa (if I'm not mistaken) is in the Optistery in Waters and gives the Horutoto Ruins map quest, and then gives the Fei Yin map quest later (the one that requires slime oil and a frost Turnip).

Map Coordinate: (North L-6)
Reward: Scroll of Aspir
Solution: Obtain the Test Answers from Wendigos in Inner Horutoto. Show the answer sheets to Fuepepe, then take them to Koru-Moru in Windurst Walls, who will fix them. Return the Test Answers to Fuepepe to obtain the Scroll of Aspir.
