Finally got my arse in gear and quested for it this past weekend.

Handed in 48 (4 stacks) of bastore sardines, plus had about 8 quests under my belt. Made the fame level, no problem.
Took me about 1.5hrs to hand in 4 stacks (have to zone each time, which is time consuming. If you have THF high enough for Flee, use that! It helps).

Very, very easy quest, considering you can buy the item you need from the AH for about 4k.

AND you'll eventually need the fame anyways.

So might as well break down one afternoon and do it.

When you fight caster mobs and have 0 downtime due to Aspir each fight (have drained upwards of 60mp at lvl29 already with it on some creatures), you'll thank yourself.

first off, Aspir is an incredible spell for drk. ..decreases downtime. i like it almost as much as drain.. but anyways.. to be able to get the quest for the aspir scroll, you'll need to get some fame in windurst. try doing repeats such as the bastore sardines in port windurst or turn in some beehive chips or crawler calculi in windurst woods. once you've acquired enough fame, go to windurst waters and talk to Fuepepe in the Aurastery. The taru will say something about having some tests stolen or something. [i forget] but you'll need a red, black, and white mage to finish the quest. head over to the northeastern horutoto tower and sta along the right wall and you'll find a secret door at (g-8) . go in, go in the east door in (d-10). there's a puzzle at (h-8) and go through the temporary wall. kill wendigos for a drop "Test Answers." go back to windurst and give them to Fuepepe. Fuepepe will send you to windurst walls to give to the principal koru-moru [just look on the map for his mansion]. then go back to fuepepe again.

...long and tedious quest. if you're lazy and don't wanna do all that, buy the test answers from AH.

My time spent building up fame in Windhurst for this quest was WELL worth it. Aspir is more than likely one of the best spells we receive when fighting against mobs with mp. Those absorb spells eat up our MP pool like crazy, but when going up against mobs with MP, just fire these off like theres no tomorrow!

Although, a redmage with refresh will change all that, but it's STILL a great spell to have. ^^

This quest is really pissing me off. I can't get the damn thing with 23+ completed Windurst quests plus several repeats. I have to talk to Fuepe correct? I am Rank 4 from San d'Oria and I really need this darn scroll...

Can someone please tell me why I don't have enough fame? I talked to the appropriate NPC and she says I don't have much fame at all, how is that possible with 23+ quests done? I mean honestly, this really sucks.

Fame is a very fluid thing... I have 43 Bastok Quests done. Have done 45 Quus/Clock runs, have done 10 siren's tears runs, have done zeruhn soot about 4-5 times, and have turned in 5 Qudav Helmets (in addition to the 43 uniques.) I still can't get the $%$#ing summon quest there >.<

In windurst the fastest/most money making way to increase fame is doing Mandragora Mad. Unlike the sardine and twinstone quests, you do not need zone out of the area to turn in your whole loot.

btw, 23 quests isn't very much. You can't get Drain with that little fame, and Drain and Aspir require about the same amount of work to acquire the scrolls.

I got the Aspir and Warp II quest with 19 uniques and 60 or so repeated. It seems you need Lvl 5 fame for the two quests to unlock.

Took me around 5 hours and 20 minutes to complete this. Handed in 5 stacks of sardines (wouldn't give me the quest after 4).

According to Killing Ifrit, you have to do another quest (from the teacher sitting on the opposite corner of the "square" from Fuepe) which simply involves handing him a two-leaf mandra bud, and a bird feather, before you can do the Aspir quest.

It's simple enough to do, just as easy as Drain, but Aspir is about 4x more time consuming.

P.S. In my opinion so far, Aspir is by far the best Drk spell I have, even better than drain... in my first group (Qufim) after getting Aspir, I went from 32 dark skill, to 48, just casting and Asping clippers.
