Monks Vs. Drks

This question goes out to the experienced high level'd Drks out there (such as ant)

How do monks compare in terms of damage over time to darks? Cuz i've heard that before this most recent patch, monks did about equal to greater damage over time compared to drk's. But with this latest patch, drk's post 75 are the strongest attackers...So does anyone have some knowledge about monks after 70 as compared to drk's?

I dunno about 70+, but right now it depends on the player. I just partied with one... he rocked. On a regular basis I think he did a little more damage. I believe (well, hope, lol) I caught up with souleater, however. All I can say is, they're not shabby. He was elv and ate HQ mithkabobs, but he was a level below me, so I think it was pretty fair :p Don't underestimate them :p

On the other hand, I think mnk is more str-dependant than any other class, so taru mnk really sucks... Ask anyone, taru mnk sucks :dead:

Unfortunately, I don't think drk can keep up after 71 with dream asura

Interesting you mentin that monks are more STR dependant than other melee...i've heard that too! Someone mentioned that the formula for determining monks h2h damage is heavily based of STR, moreso than other melee classes...you know if thats true ant?

Also, i've talked a few 70drks and mnks, and they all said pretty much what you just said hehe, that at 70, monks probably do a little bit more dmg on average, but w/ souleater drk goes way ahead on damage, so i guess it will balance out over a large period of time.

Yah they did get that new 8hit WS. Not sure though how it compares to drk's new moves, i hear they are really nice and may even put them ahead of monks. Also, i havent seen ANY new weapons for monks out there, that are any good at least, still the same spartan cesti/cross counters which seem to be the best. But DRK"s get that nice 97(98 if you have the +1) scythe w/ hp drain on it. So im sure that must help drk's too. And its freaking 8k on Sylph lol!

Both using WAR, most damaging sub.

Just out of curiosity, do you remember what dmg you were doing as opposed to the monk?

Also were you fighting IT's with high def or such. I heard that basically monks lack the ability to punch through high def, but otherwise are great.
