2 questions. . .

1. Ive been hanging aroud jueno for some time and ive noticed alot of DRK/WHM and ive even seen one soloing in Qufim. I also got a raise from one once. What gives? Is it a sub DRK's use to solo? How confusing.

2. Also during my time in Vanadiel ive noticed alot of DRK using shield??? Thus furthering my confusion. I thought DRK were pretty much useless with shields. So why do i see so many DRKs running around with em? Answers would be appreciated .

Ok I'll give these a shot.

1) Drk/Whm, at higher levels, and I mean WAY higher levels, is a viable soloing combo, because they can not only heal themselves. But buff themselves up with protect/shell and the works. It's also a possibility that these Drk/Whm are farming for gil/items, so they want to be able to last a long time, without sitting. therefore healing with the /whm.

2) Drks do use 1 hand sword sometimes....on RARE occasions....one reason, and the most obvious in my mind, that you see drks with 1 HS, is because the NA release was not too long ago, and people want to be "original"...so they try something not so smart. lol....OR, if they are in a party, sometimes its to reduce hate (by dealing less/faster dmg), or to make certain renkei's work.

yes, DRK/WHM great for soloing. gives ailment cures, enhancing magic, regular cures, and more MP. can turn the tide of battle in most solo fights.

i've never seen 1 DRK using shield...so...not sure about this one. he was probably just goofing.

2. pretty sure they use 1hnd sword for renki/ or to deal less dmg.. read that somewhere.. forgot where tho :sweat: :sweat:

Ok, the DRK/WHM i can totally understand. I saw it at work solo and its really quite nice. Heal heal drain aspir heal aspir drain heal aspir. Very cool. But, the 1h shield thing i really dont get. One could think of it as ignorance but i have other reasons to believe there is something vague im not seeing. Because all those DRK who carry the sword and shiled were 70+. So they must know a little something about being a DRK. Maybe its just for show? Ive never actaully seen them fight with it. But then again in valkrum i did see one training it up. So logically i think to myself.If he is going out of his way to train s/s. There must be something for it. Thanks for the replys

Yeah...there's tons of reasons for it....Like I said in my above post:

Using the sword and shield as a DRK is convenient, it may not give the badass look of a DRK holding a scythe or a great sword, but its still quite useful. If you are in a party and your a DRK, and your party isn't really properly formed so you don't have a main tank, then your not gonna wanna start doing 600 damage guillotines on that mob, or you'll find yourself dead very fast.

As well, for skillchaining. A lot of skillchains need sword skills, not scythe ones. This is a smaller factor of why they would use sword, as there is many other jobs that use 1h sword out there so...I don't really agree with that one.

If you say that the DRK's were lvl 70+, then perhaps they came out with a new sword that helps DRK out a lot. Perhaps its faster or there's a new WS, who knows. Your guess is as good as mine. I'll let you know why when I'm a 70 DRK.

no i was asked to use a 1hnd sword in a PT once for a renkei...i have no clue why and a friend told me with it caped use darkness it it hits fast and does decent dmg..from what ive heard.., also when i use my 2hour ive switched to a 1hnd sword since i can get more hits in but i still normally dont..
