drk/rdm???

is a drk/rdm a good combo? and what race would be the best for this combo? thanks

No....

There is no good race for this combo because it's a bad combo. DRk are not meant to be mages, and all you will do by adding RDM is hurt your DMG. The ideal DRK would be a DRK/WAR followed b a DRK/MNK. If you want to do magic DMG, be a BLK. If you want to do physical attacks be a DRK. Unlike FFVII and VIII and to a lesser extent X this game is not about making uber characters. It's about making characters that are REALLY good at one thing. If you sub mage, your defense will become even more of a joke. Your DMG will suffer so no one would like want you as a DRK, and lastly no one would want you as a Mage because your MP would suck. Any questions?

I heard DRK/RDM is great for summon fights, but beyond that DRK/RDM would be very situational.

That combo doesn't sound very good to me either, I don't think that haveing a RDM as a 'permanent' sub-job would be very good because it has pretty even stats so it wouldn't boost much and you would have to have a pretty high level to use any decent magic.

come on guys no flaming...even though it doesnt seem like it.....iono but hey.....id like to point out the fact that this game is a MMORPG....i mean literally thousands of people are gonna play this game...and many people are going to have there own opionions on whats good....in these fourms you should only give your own OPINIONs and not pass them as a fact....i mean people mayb be able to work out a dark knight/ Red mage u never noe.....

but if u want my OPINION dark knight/red mage ish not very good because i strongly believe the dark knight should be used strictely for his massive attack power....im not saying YOU CANT im just saying i believe it isnt good.....hahaha that being said goodluck and have fun...and please refrain from flaming LOL

With a mage sub the drk can status,nuke in between attacks and drain the life more effectively. soem will say ...aww but the blm is only half the level of the drk.

SO WHAT , if his MB is not as good as the blm , thats what he blm is there for. The thing that people in this game forget is that you can atack and cast nearly at the same time. so you can getin a swing before the end of reneki AND MB.

The dark is balanced with either a mage or fighter type sj.

You must be aware though that as a mage type you will more squishy when a mob does start to hit you , But if you chose the PT right then you will have the taunters to pull mob off you.

The key to a succesful dark is your experience with the class.
Not experience as in levels I mean playing experience, knowing what monster is weak to what , making good macros .
Bringing the right gear, an dusing the local weak monsters to practice them on.

To this day I still kill weakl mons just to test out new skills i learn or to perfect my own custom macros and tactics.

DRK is the only melee class that actually should sub mage in a level up PT. DRK/RDM and DRK/WHM are very common, and yes they work fine and will get you PTs. You should pick your sub depending on the situation.
