Before I move forward on BLU

I know I need to get THF over and done with toward BLU and with people dying to invite anything BUT a DNC these days, its looks like its time to go get that done.

Kitten's full subs thus far are WAR, NIN, WHM. I'm guess I'm looking to see if there are any others I should cover. I was rather curious about if anyone had tried BLU/DNC, too. I want to have that sub for my COR anyway and I'll stomach the hordes of DNCs out there if I have to.

I'm current on spells to 40 and will likely continue soloing for the time being.

I actually saw a BLU/DNC out soloing Lesser Colibri as I was running to an xp camp, and a SAM/DNC in the next spot over. The SAM took a lot less hits due to Seigan, but the BLU seemed to be able to dish out a lot of damage if I remember the combat log correctly. If i actually see him/her again I'll just ask them a few technical questions about it.

Uh, if you're soloing and your BST I'd assume you could 'possibly' sub it if you ever wanted to move away from xping off Beastman pets. But that aside you have all the subs covered since you're leveling THF. I've seen a few as BLU/PLD at 70+ for the Auto-Refresh and other handy abilities too, both at solo xp and in Campaign.

to be honest, for BST, I don't see what the big deal about DNC is. More often than not, minimal healing covers my BST and Snarl can take a lot of heat off you now if you need to pop a jug in a pinch. The benefits of Reraise, Regen, Stoneskin and Blink are too compelling to give /WHM up for anything else at this point. Plus I don't want to give up TP for anything but Rampage.

BLU I can see greater benefits because BLU's power comes from that MP and the more I can save, the better. TP Cures will only add to your solo endurance there.

I just hit lvl 50 as a blu. I have soloed most of the way(I have partied and duoed about 10 of the 50 lvls). For the most part I have gone /rdm. I relalize /thf gives better damage(espically with sneak attack), but I find around lvl 50 that damage with /rdm is good. if you are looking to sub something different than /thf, I say go with /rdm. I find silence and gravity help out more than people think. Also, around lvl 50 I find there aren't enough people on to set up a decent party most of the time(it seems like everyone on Lakshami at lvl 47-51 is either dnc, sch, drg, bst or war) so the fact that /rdm will give you regen helps termendoulsly(spelling-sorry). Also, with /rdm you get access to the en- spells and blaze spikes. I know /rdm isn't the best sub-job for blu, but it also isn't gimp as a sub-job either.

I did /WHM for a quite a long while before I finally felt the need to slap on /NIN (prolly around the 40-50 region) when I soloed (which, unsurprisingly, were the majority of those 40-50 levels; smart spell hunting will level you rather fast solo... ...like, really fast).

I didn't do /THF until the 60s just for the fact that I ended up in a lot of parties I felt couldn't handle me dropping SA/CA'd Mandibular Bites and Sickle Slashes (and not because I thought I was the shit, but just by observing people's performances over that time period, I wasn't convinced that dropping that much damage, making the tank's job just that much harder, would have served in anyone's best interest). /THF is an incredibly potent SJ for BLU, and should be used responsibly if you're gonna roll w/o TA to help deflect some of the attention the mob's gonna give you for TP-fueled Sneaked Physicals.

If you feel your party can handle the additional hate management stress CA/SA'd physicals can induce, go for it, but just judge where and when you can get away with it.

Seems I worded my second paragraph incorrectly. I meant if your BST is leveled you could sub it on your BLU.

Oh yeah, then that's not possible, my BST and BLU are on different characters. I'm picking up BLU for Kitten since Foobar has BST as the solo job. I don't see myself levelling BST twice, lol.
