  • Blue Points?

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me out with something.

I intend on becoming a Blue Mage, so I have been doing some reading. One site I visited for Spells had a number for "Blue Points". I assumed it was something that limited you to how many active spells you can have.

Can anyone clear this up for sure tho? Thanks

Blue Magic is restricted by both slots and points.

As an example, let's say you have 10 spells that you want to use, let's call them Spells 1-10 for ease.

Spell slots, obviously, are spots you can put your spells in. Each spell takes up a spell. Let's say hypothetically, you only had 6 slots. This means you can only use 6 spells.

Spell points, however, determine which spells you put on. So, if your total spell points were, say, 15, you could only use enough points to equal that, no more. So, even if you had room, you couldn't surpass it.

Let's say Spells 1-3 are worth 1 point, spells 4-5 are worth 2, spells 6-9 are worth 3, and spell 10 is worth 4. So, if you had 13 points used up, you could set spells 1-5, provided you have a free slot (and haven't already set the spell, obviously). There'd be no way for you to use 6-10, as those are all above your means in points, even if you have an open slot. You'll have to remove a spell to make room, or deal without the more expensive spell.

Every level ending in one (11, 21, 31, etc.) you get an upgrade in both points and slots, meaning as you progress, you can set more spells. You simply have to prioritize your spell usage.

It sounds confusing, but it's really not. I hope I helped, either way.

Wow, thank you much. Yeah it does sound a bit confusing, but shouldn't be too much of a problem.

      Thanks a lot

It's pretty easy to get the hang of, just a little hard to explain. You can think of it like equipment. You have so many slots that you can put armor into and only so much gil to buy armor to put in those slots. Blue magic points are like currency you use to equip spells.
