    Whats your style?

    RDM style or BLM style?

RDM typical style = pull out weapon and melee, keeping buffs/debuffs constantly on and wacking away at it slowly but surely, using no damage magic.

BLM typical style = bind and nuke away, then rest every so often. Or nuke, sleep, rest, nuke, sleep, rest.. etc..

I personally melee RDM style (even the times i dont use RDM sub) I find more challenging and fun taking on something head to head rather then being far away from it throwing stuff at it.

Requries alot of skill and time to kill mobs this way.. but that can only help you out in the future.

If I'm killing EP's or lower, I'll melee, but generally I do a mix of the two. I'll Blink/Stoneskin, melee a bit, sleep when I take too much damage, then rebuff, heal, wake with a Drain, stun into a nuke, melee, then sleep again when neccessary. If I could get my RDM sub up to the point where I could use Phalanx, I'd be more inclined to sit and whack away, but as is, I find the above method to suit me fine. It lets me kill anything EM or less, although some of the faster/harder hitting mobs (MNK-types in particular) give me a lot of trouble. I could kill Kuftal Robber Crabs a few levels ago...don't really remember what their con was (T I think), but they're aspirable, so they're basically just as easy as Elementals.

I find that you have to find a balance between doing damage with melee and doing damage with Nukes. Melee too long, and you start taking too much damage and have to cure yourself too much. Nuke too often and you run out of MP and are basically screwed. I try to find that balance by nuking/meleeing/sleeping in a rotation. I should try it with a better melee weapon than an elemental staff though....(although Fire Staff makes a decent one for me).

Atrapos, I've been trying to PM you, but your pm box is full, and you've gotten mails about that.
So I'm not rude (well, not much), it's just that I can't pm you ^^

Too weak and "feeble" easy prey (crabs, skeletons, beastmen casters, etc.) I go RDM style. Sometimes I use Drain whenever the recast is up regardless of whether I need it or not to boost my DPS a bit. Elemental staves have horrid dmg and negate the usefulness of Full Swing, so out comes the pole.

If it can deal significant damage to me, or just attacks quickly, I go BLM style. An EP Yagudo MNK I aggroed in Oztroja recently looked like it was using hundred fists on me, I needed to Manafont a Stun and Sleep just to get it out of my personal space.

subbing rdm for phalanx makes it a little better, but it's still not very good. phalanx is built off of enhancing magic and blm enhancing isn't really too high of a grade.

subbing rdm for gravity on the other hand is very good. gravity mob and then kite it around and nuke it.

I just bought a scythe for my blm, so i have been meeleeing alot more, i mean am i the only one who thinks all blm weapons besides staves look horrible.

I just bought it because i hate the halloween items, trick/treat staff looks dumb, the pumpkin head looks retarded, but a BLM with a big ole scythe is bad arse

but yeah i had to level the skill up a bit last night (it was at 0) so i went to qufim and faught evil weapons(ium surpprised i was able to hit them at all, must be the mithra thing)

anyway i'd para wack away drain wack away, drain wack away.

of course i might have casted some elemental spells if i wasnt trying to land as many hits as possible.
Why be like someone famous when you can be like me.

I went to Qufim to level a number of weapons as DRK. I took Axe and Dagger from Lv.15-20 range all the way to Lv.80-85. I used Duel Wield, so it helped. But I did the same thing with Great Axe. You'd be surprised that your level and base stats make up for the horrid lack of skill. Even as Elvaan, I'm sure I had higher DEX then most jobs who EXP in Qufim. So that may have something to do with it. My Acc+15 might have had something to do with it as well.

As for answering the question, I'm a RDM. And even being Elvaan I cast a few nukes in there to give a bigger edge to myself. But with all my Enfeebles, DoTs, and Sword Enhancment spells (Enblizzard, Enfire, etc; ) I don't usually need too many nukes.

Start out the fight by Sleep and/or Bind them. Cast my needed Enfeebles. Paralyze, Blind, Slow, Gravity, toss in a big nuke, then Dia and Poison. From there I melee, heal as needed, nuke before the last big Weapon Skill. (Just makes me feel kewl if I kill with my Weapon Skill. lol)

As far as being a BLM. I usually start out the same way. Sleep and then enfeeble. Then nuke away. I draw my weapon, but I usually don't do much in the way of melee at all. I'd say about 75-80% of the damage done by nukes. In the RDM style, I'd say about 65% of the damage done by melee.

                Aye..

But when i strait melee I end up with ALOT of MP left then if I went BLM style.

RDM style all you have to do is keep reblinking and throw a enfeeb now and then, and that take barely no mp at all. I can go all round without a EP or DC touching me so no need to cure.

Sure it takes me 20+ mins to solo this way, but im never in any danger or loss of MP.

                Now for just general stuff..

I start off with earthstaff, use TP, drain/aspir and repeat.

All while keeping blink/stoneskin up, its just like with NIN's, if your blink is ready to be used, use it and cancel the one you have on, luckily its only a 8sec timer.

Sure you can kill an EP mob with 4, maybe 5 good nukes and be done with it in 2mins, but whats the fun in that :D

Alot of people tend to forget that for us BLM, our MP is really our HP, if we have no MP we might as well be dead.

Lol yeah, i skill with dual wield also, took dagger from 10 to 100 in about a half hour in 2nd jungle saving people from gobs.

And btw I hate the blm scythe for farming its worthless.

i've been able to take on DC robbers in gustav with lots of +evasion gear (used wind staff) and nin sub. of course, it's pretty risky since you can't cure yourself, but you can always stun, sleep, and drain and what not. i found that with blind on, these robbers missed a whole lot.
