  • Ok farming...

I'm almost a 46 BLM (scythe-time baby) and will be worldshifting to a new server. I have like a million gil but have never really farmed for it... but now I want to farm and I really have no clue.
I'm fully willing to farm for my gil..I think it's fun and rewarding, but I don't have a clue. Where could a 46 BLM farm and make 20k an hour or more? Or is that possible? Please don't say "google it." or "do a search"

do whatever you did to make your million already. or level a craft with that million. farming as a blm really isn't very good.

Goto 2nd jungle and charge for Warps.
        /thf and steal Gold Coins
        Grow elemental ores.

Those are the things I did.

I've farmed about a million gil and never gotten more than 10-12k an hour. Sabertooth Tigers in Batallia Downs is still the best money I've found, but I don't recommend them until after level 50.

yea, for farming...i've yet to find anything that beats sabertooth tigers in batallia except maybe tundra tigers in beaucedine when batallia gets too crowded. on a good day, you can make more than 10k/hour, but blm kill speed is much too slow.

somewhat off topic, what kinda damage should i be expecting when i get retribution weilding a mythic pole? does the damage vary with tp? if so, how much?

              I was a 58BLM subbing 17THF, usually farmed in Valkurm. Yeah, I'm serious. <_<
I actually made some decent gil, I think. The average was ~14k/hour, +30k if I got the NM drop. 46BLM should be fine, just use your MP for spells wisely; resting too long for downtime might lead to less mobs to kill. (competition)

Farm around the beach that leads to Gustav Tunnel zone. Mass train lizards and bats, lead them over eventually to Gustav zone tunnel. If you have THF or NIN subbed, etc... you'll be able to Cyclone, as well as cast Sleepga and -ga spells incase things get ugly. (I've died once... had about 40 lizards :/ ) Never kill Lizards around there if there's a EXP PT killing them... not really fair for the dudes, just go somewhere else, at lv46 there are plenty of other zones.

Mass produce Lizard Skins, sell them on AH. It sold for about 7-8k per stack on Ragnarok when I played. Sell the misc stuff like Lizard Tails to vendors or give/use for Alchemy purposes. Bat Wings are also 2k per stack, and save the Sand Bat Fangs for when you travel to Bastok, trade them to a NPC for fame and gil. Giving one at a time isn't much, but when I finally went to Bastok after farming for a month or so, I got about 50k from trading in all my fangs. The biggest profit comes from the NM that spawns near there; Golden Bat. His rare drop is a Night Cape, which sold for about 28-32k. Not gonna go into details of how you can 90% claim him, it's hard for me to explain the exact camara angles and stuff. Hope this helped...

PS: If you're using Scythe, maybe the AoE can be used instead of Cyclone for support dmg.

Honestly, you may find that Cyclone does more damage. Then again, Scythe will do more damage per hit, and build TP faster. But in my experience, Cyclone does more AoE damage than Spinning Scythe.

Farming with a THF who was only 3 levels higher then I was at the time, his Cyclone did 300dmg+ with 300%TP. My Spinning Scythe did 200dmg+ with 300%TP. (I've only ever broke 300dmg with Spinning Sycthe once.... hehehe and I used Souleater. I lost 450HP+ from the whole ordeal. But it was fun! lol)

Get some mining gear and chain yourself to Gusgen. Though if there gets to be more than a handful of miners, pickings get slim.

i hated mining in gusgen...to be honest, i'd rather mine in yughott grotto. got plenty of gold and darksteel, and occasionally i'd steal some silver coins or annihilate lizards for skins to make iron subligars and iron mittens (for skilling up smithing). maybe i should go back to mining...

on a side note, earth crusher is probably much, much stronger than cyclone from what i'm hearing. my 300% earth crusher does well over 500 to all...

                      Ah sorry, forgot to explain 'why' I said Dagger instead of everything else. The use of AoE WS' isn't gonna be your main dmg priority, use what you got; MP and -ga spells. Reason why I stated Dagger is because out of Clubs, Staves, Scythes, etc... Dagger has the lowest delay. Hell, doesn't dagger have the lowest delay out of ALL the weapons? This gives you the most chances to use AoE WS' (in dagger's case; Cyclone) a lot more often than you would be able to with an Earth Crusher or Spinning Scythe. I well know that Earth Crusher is stronger than Cyclone, I've only done over 350dmg a few times and that was out of pure luck with 300%TP. Although Cyclone won't do more dmg than what you could with other weapons, consider the fact that you'll be using -ga spells mostly, and the AoE WS is something you'd wanna use as 'support' dmg. Besides, lv46... you'll be able to pwn the bats, lizards, and Golden Bat with -ga spells alone, they only have so much HP compared to what dmg you can do. But you wanna kill these things 'quickly' so you can kill more of them faster. Hope this cleared things up; and yes I know I repeated a lot of things over and over. -o-;
