Here is a question: Is the hate you gain as a Black Mage based on the DAMAGE the spell inflicts or based on the Spell actualy being cast?

In more detail:
I think its tied into both somehow. In that lets say you cast Blizzard III and get a partial resist and only do 300 damage (roughly 1/2 my normal damage of about 600). In my opinion, you still get slightly more hate doing that than you would if you had cast Blizzard II for full damage (roughly 300 damage).
Also note that larger spells do larger amounts of damage in *less time*, which in my mind, is the key factor in determining who has the most hate and when. The difference is that I can't cast 2 IV level spells back to back, but if I cast IV, then a II (or sometimes III, depending on the quality of the tank) spell, then I can get a IV spell off without getting hate. Of course, all of this changes around depending on what level bracket you're in, but you get the idea. For The Horde!!

Ask any whitemage which cure spell pulls in the most hate out of Cure III and Cure IV and they will tell you Cure III. Knowing this, we can now assume that there is atleast some bearing on the hate from the spell alone. However, since we also have to deal with resists, we can then apply some sort of damage factor to the emnity gained.

You have it backwards. Cure IV is the one that pulls more hate. From my experience, it pulls a little more than it should for the hp cured, which leads me to believe the spell has a higher enimity rate than cure 3. And of course cure V is another exception with its super low hate amount.Ask any whitemage which cure spell pulls in the most hate out of Cure III and Cure IV and they will tell you Cure III.

I've noticed that out of everything Damage done is usually the lowest factor to the hate you get. The abilities or spells used tend to draw a bunch more hate.
With RNG if you were RNG/WAR and do Sharpshot, Berserk, and Barrage the monster might turn but not to often it occurs. With RNG/DRK though doing Sharpshot, Last Resort, and Barrage it's an always guarenteed turn by that alone or after you take the shot. For some reason Last Resort draws a much larger amount more hate then Berserk does, even though it's aparent attributes are less beneficial then Berserk.

I think (pretty sure, but not 100%) that Last Resort has a built-in Provoke. Or something to the same effect of it, because it causes a Hate "spike" just like provoke. Berserk does not have a hate spike, it is just like activating any other ability. LR though is like hitting "Provoke".Modnar
