• How many macro pages do you have?

And what are they set up like?

Also does anyone else wish there wasn't such a lag between switching pages? Another thing I dislike is that if you want to switch pages, you have to cancel out of the macros and hold down R2/L2 and press up or down again to switch..... I wish it was how it is when your editing macros, the page is up and all you have to do is press up or down, it'd make it much easier during battle.

Anyway my primary page setup is like this

L1: Map-Target (for /t <bt>), Elemental Seal, BioII and then the six elemental debuffs in elemental order (Fire->ice....>Water)
R2: Cure1, CureII, Drain,Aspir then my most powerful spell for each element, in elemental order. So Fire, Blizzard, Stone II, Aero II, Thunder, Water II

Then on the page above it, on the L2 line I have all kinds of buffs like spikes, protects, Apple Pie, Divine Seal and Curaga, then on R2 it's all my nuke-aga spells, but not in elemental order, but in order of least powerful to most powerful.

then a page below my primary page I have some enfeebling spells I usually only use when trying to skill enfeeble on L2... and on the same page, all the way to the right (so hardest to reach/accidentally hit) are my emergency macros, sleepaga,bind,sleep,escape and warp

then on the R2 page for that I have stuff I usually never use anymore, like an equip macro for my wand or staff, and then in elemental order (right below the main page's nukes) are my less powerful nukes, like Stone, Water and Aero since I don't use those much more.

Three rows, L and R both.

L0 - Old nukes, etc.
1-6 old nukes by element, Escape, Manafont

R0 - Buffs and status cures
1-4 -Na spells, Erase, Blink, Stonskin, Barspell, Sneak, Invis

L1 - New nukes, etc.
1-6 Latest nukes by element, 7-9 latest -Ga spells, Int equipment swap

R1 - Healing stuff, aka the "What do you mean 'I'm the healer'?" bar.
Regen, Cure 3 (lastst), Cure 3 (stpc), D. Seal, Curaga 2, Curaga, Drain, Aspir, /target <bt>, /heal (also equips dark staff)

L2 - Crowd Control Kit (Teargas not included)
E. Seal, Sleep 2, Sleepga 2, Sleep, Sleepga, Bind, Gravity, Silence, something I forgot, ditto

R2 - DOTs'R'Us
Slow, Paralyze, Dia, Bio 2, Poison 2, Shock, Choke, Frost, /target <bt>, MP equipment swap

~~~~~
Each spell macro equips the relevant staff or wand, enfeebles equip my AF body and Dark magic equip my AF pants. MND based spells (besides Cures) equip my Holy Phial, Saintly rings, and RSE pants.
MP set: Electrum Rings, AF body, Holy Phial, RSE panties
I have 1 page for exping per mage job. So, I have 1 page for blm, 1 page for rdm, 1 page for whm. BLM is in the middle as my #2 page, RDM is the first at #1, and whm is the last at #3. What ends up happening is that I have access to all the spells that I would normally need for any job in 3 pages. However, while exping, I never have to use anything but the primary page for the job.
BLM page:
CTRL line:
1. Stun - use it to stop specials. Do it more than once, and people start complimenting you. I also use this every time I can, as it tends to stop 2-3 attacks, and it helps skill up dark magic.
2. Usually Dia...I'll throw it in there every now and again to get an enfeebling skillup.
3. Blizzard III - standard spell for me to cast.
4. Thunder III - same.
5. Water IV - when I need extra damage
6. Drain - cast it every time I can
7. Aspir - cast it when dark isn't capped and I need to let the tank do something. I also keep it here in case elementals link (and I farm on elementals, so this way I can use just 1 page for exping and farming)
8. Elemental Debuffs - I have it set up so that I can use any 2 or any 3 of my choice, depending. Usually use shock/burn, shock/frost, or rasp/drown/frost (last one may be wrong, I forget the set of 3 thats helpful to skillup with).
9. Thunder/Blizzard II - kill off slivered mobs efficiently
0. Currently Firaga III - whatever -ga I'm using to burst goes here.
ALT line:
1. Cure II
2. Cure III
3. Regen - if I get hit with something, I use regen on myself to save the whm mp.
4. Paralyna or Poisona, whichever the mob tends to do
5. Bar-element (I do it to take the burden off the whm) that's appropriate. Not something that always has to happen
6. Elemental Seal
7. Escape
8. Sleep II
9. Sleepga II
0. Resting Macro
Nukes equip +int, +elemental skill, and the proper elemental staff (if I don't have the proper one, then it equips Ice Staff, or Mythic Wand if it's an Aero-type). Heals equip +mnd, sleeps equip af + dark staff, and resting macro switches to maximum MP and dark staff (currently switches to black cloak instead of AF for the extra mp recovery).
For The Horde!!
Current Gil total spent on gear:
3,235,000
Current Gil Value of gear:
1,151,000
Laughing when new players complain about prices:
Priceless
I use different pages for different role I am in. Seldom do I need to flip through them unless something unexpected happens.
Page 10: Ancient MB
This page is rarely used. But they are there when I need them. These macros swap out the corresponding elemental staff, start casting ancient, and time a /party message to the melees for renkei start. I also have the 2 BLM synchronized ancient MB version in here too.
Page 1: Nukes
This is my main page. All my regular duty is done from this page. Basically I have all 6 element lined out on Ctrl 1-6. These are combo macros that will use the strongest single target nuke I can cast at the time.
My combo nuke macro looks like this:
/equip main 'Fire Staff"
/ma "Fire III"
/wait 1
/ma "Fire II"
/wait 1
/ma "Fire"
What this does is to cycle through various levels of Fire spells until one I can use at the moment is found, starting from the highest.
On Ctrl 7-0 I have 4 selected elemental AoE (-aga) spells lined up, also on combo macros.
Alt 1-6 are elemental enfeebles, in the same order as my nukes.
Alt 7&8 are 2 selected enfeebles. I have Stun and Blind at this time.
Alt 9&0 are Drain and Aspir.
Page 2: Cure
This is the page I go to when things gets a little out of hand and I need to take the role of a support healer.
Ctrl 1~4 are my 2 best Cure spells, Cure III and Cure II, followed by Curaga and Regen. All of these are on <st> tags, because I do not want to lose sight of the primary target when I cure.
Ctrl 5: Protect&Shell. Useful when they drop and WHM is still busy. Protect II on the main tank is better then nothing.
Ctrl 6-8: Deorder, Sneak, and Invisible.
Ctrl 9&0: Sleep spells. These are life savers.
Alt; Self curing, Self-buffing spells, such as spikes (also on combo macro), blink, and stoneskin
Page 3: Status & bar
Status restoration -na spells.
bar-element-ra spells
I do not use a resting macro. alt-H does just fine for me. I do, however, use the drain or aspir macros to swap out my Pluto Staff after I have sat down.
Between my DRK and BLM I use all pages.
I have one element devoted each to one Alt page, for example for Fire:
1. Fire
2. Fire II
3. Fire III
4. Fire IV
5. Firaga
6. Firaga II
7. Firaga III
8. Flare
9. Fire Staff + Wizard Petasos + Errant Hpl. + stand up
0. Fire Staff + Black Cloak + stand up
I have a sit down macro somewhere on a Ctrl page which equips Dark Staff + Errant Hpl. and sits down. I find this to be more useful than manually entering healing mode since you have to cancel your current target that way or else you will just lock-on/off. Plus I don't have to open up the equipment window.
My topmost Ctrl page has Stun, Poison, etc. on it for stunning/pulling quickly.
Actually, you don't.
Try instead of using "*", hitting H, or Ctrl-H, depending on which keyboard mode you are in, while still locked on a target. You sit down while maintaining the target, just like your sit macro! Why? because Alt-H / H is mapped to the /Hheal command, while "*" is mapped to 2 commands, both /heal and /lockon.
There are little conflicting things like this all over the default set-up. such as cemara angle v.s. menu directional keys. You can either find the key that's mapped to only one of the functions, or untangle them by re-defining the keys.
I'm with Atrapos on keeping 1 macro set per exp'ing job. Currently I have 7 full macro slots depending on what my main/sub is at the moment, and I'll rewrite some macros to avoid switching sets. I don't like switching macro sets mid-battle, it could lead to a mis-cast that might end up with someone dead.
I have macro palletes for DRG/WAR, DRG/THF, WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, RDM/WHM, RDM/BLM, and one utility/fun macro pallete (funny emotes, fishing/mining/logging stuff, Flee, etc)
Whenever I can, I try to group spells into one macro, like Frost/Rasp/Drown, to save on pallete space. The only times that becomes a problem is if the melees start the fight with a skillchain...then I'm running around in circles trying to cancel the 3 spells while spamming my nuke macro to get the burst.
NIN 12 / BST 8 / MNK 7 / SMN 5 / RNG 1 / DRK 1
San d'Oria Rank 5
AF: 2/6
Dark Staff: O
Ice Staff: O
Light Staff: O
Oops, my bad. Forgot about that. The real reason why I don't use Alt+H is because it is a shortcut for /heal, not /heal on and /heal off which is what I use in my stand up sit down macros.
I use 3 bars for blm but I'll probably change it around a little before settling on a final configuration :p
Bar 1
Ctrl 1-6 II's/III's single target starting with earth and ending with wind
Ctrl 7-8 Sleep II/Sleepga II
Ctrl 9 Elemental Seal
Ctrl 10 Manafont
Alt 1-10 Bio II, Drain, Aspir, Stun, Poison II, Cure III, Stoneskin, Blink, ProtectraII/Shellra
Bar 2
Ctrl Same as bar 1 but III/IV single targets
Alt 1-10 Rasp, Shock, Drown, Burn, Frost, Choke, Silena, Paralyna, Elemental Seal, Escape
Bar 3
Ctrl 1-10 Highest Ga spells by element, Diaga, Poisonga, Elemental Seal, Manafont
Alt 1-10 Ancients by element, Poisona, Blindna, Elem seal, Manafont
A lot is redundant, but I'm use to it since playing with 3 bars isn't a problem with my nostromo. Bar 4 is for whm, and the next bars are for smn. I'll probably change around my elemental debuff bar as it kinda takes up wayyyy to much space and all I really use are frost shock and burn (although lately I've taken to using all of a set for fun with Poison II and sitting, does respectable tick dmg (i.e. Rasp, Drown, Frost, Poison II, Bio II (if the rdm isn't dia'ing)). Additionally, after I level up rdm, I'll ahve to add in gravity and dispel.
