  • Elemental Skill Ups

Can you max skill up Elemental on easy mobs? I am leveling Rdm and my elemental skill is about half what it should be.

Weap skill can only be gained with even +'s, does this hold true with the magic skills too?

    Thanks much

    weapon skill can be gained on lower then evens -.-;;
its just you can only gain to a certain level of skill based off a monsters level or something.

      Skillups and stuff.

You can skillup whatever you want (elem skill, weap skill, enfeebling, ninjutsu, parrying *ugh!*) on a mob to the cap for the level of the mob.

      Kinda confusing?

To clarify, if the mob cons even match, you can level your skills to cap on it. The last 3 levels or so will be a bit slow though, at least as far as I've experianced.

      Random example of skillup:

Example target, 54drk who realized he's in a tight spot with unlevelled Greatsword, and will have to level for Spinning Slash anyway, decides to skill on quifim crabs for an easy starting base.

(i.e. something to work with as to hit the mobs more then once in a blue moon in a lvl 50 skillup party.)

Level range on Quifim Clippers : 29-32
Skill cap for A weaps @ 30 (for measure): 93

This means that if you take your time, and level drain/aspir black magic to 90 as well, so you don't have to rest, you can fairly easy in a few hours get some land crab meat, (thf sub plz) as well as your GS to level 90 (those last levels are easier to come by on higher level mobs.)

It's in my opinion better to level your skills this way, since starting out vs to high lvl mobs with too low skill = bad hit rate, as well as weird skill gains. (i.e. 0 0 0 0.5 0 0 0 0 0 0.4 0 0 0 0)

The only part I'm shaky about is whether lower ranking skills still can be skilled to the A skill cap for the mob level if you yourself can have higher level, (i.e. skilling up on too weak to gain some preskill, as in my example.)

Not that it matters much, but I'm interested in knowing ^^

I just took my evasion to cap fightin worthless goblins. So I guess the answer is yes, you can skill lower capped skills on lower level mobs.

i get hit by worthless mobs all the time, no skill ups. its impossible to get skill up TO CAP on anything less than even match, no matter what the skill. for my evasion, i go to crawler's, find an even match or tough helm beetle and let it beat me up while i have stoneskin on (while meleeing for staff skill ups). stoneskin wears, i sleep it, rebuff, repeat. a beetle will last a good 30 minutes or so before finally dying, giving plenty of evasion, enfeebling, and dark skill ups (from aspir, maybe drain).

if i skill up club on chamber beetles (which con dc or ep) i do not get skill ups to evasion, even after hours upon hours upon hours there.

I kinda thought elemental worked the same way as weap skillz. You can cap healing and enhancing magic by spaming on yourself, thats what threw me off.

I am trying to decide on rdm/blm or /whm. may be a moot point if I go /blm.

            Thanks much

Wether or not you can cap on a mob is dependant on what your cap is. If you can level a skill from 60-70 on a certain lvl, and your cap is 60-70, and the mob is too weak... then you can cap it on the mob.

ITs not a ratio thing. Its not some complicated forumla. Its pretty simple, straight forward #s.

If you have 0 skill... noob areas will skill you up.

If you have an A rated skill in your main job... you will need Evens to cap it. An E rating may be able to take decents or lower.

For a sub skill, you can definately cap them on too weaks.

That being said.. just throw in an extra nuke or 2 a fight. As MP permits.

Or you can find some EMs near a zone. Use bind and nuke until it breaks. Then sleep . Nuke again and run to zone.

                Hrm ...

I am highly skeptical about you guys' claims. Going by your example, my rdm Evasion is D-ranked, and has a skill cap of 210 at lvl 75.

An A+ rank skill is capped at 212 at lvl 62, thus if you are right, I should be able to cap my evasion on lvl 62 mobs.

Sorry, but this is most certainly untrue as far as I'm concerned. I have been working on leveling my Evasion for the past week, and even level 70 mobs won't give me any evasion skill ups, so I will agree with Serpico's explanation.

Also, you cannot gain skill that is available only from your subjob (i.e, rdm/mnk cannot gain skill in hand-to-hand and guard).
