Lame n00b question

Hi everyone.

Ok, i was previously playing as a Galka WAR and had no problems levelling at all, due to the good HP and the good VIT, but i wanted to become a mage so i decided that a Taru BLM would be the best way to go.

I started this character 2 days ago and i have levelled him to level 7 and i seem to have hit a bit of a nightmare spot, i'm at the stage that i've got too little HP to survive decent enemies and i'm not hitting for enough damage to kill off more dangerous enemies. But if i dont attack these guys i'm stuck fighting easy enemies just so i dont loose 300exp when i die.

I'm in Bastok and really want to move onto level 10 so i can start partying but i'm really struggling.

Anyone have any advice on where i should be levelling and what battle tactics i should be using.

Here's how I leveled my BLM to 9.

Bind+Nuke= Dead Mob :D

It's not too hard to Bind-Nuke Decent Challenges. If you don't wanna do that, or go after Easys, find someone to duo with. WARs are great so you can nuke w/o worry of aggro, I did well with a MNK, I would Blind the mob, then when it was 1/2 dead, I'd nuke. By then, he woulda gained some hate so 1 nuke wouldn't gain me more aggro.

Get the lvl 5 ash pole and the spell Bind.

Draw weapon, cast bind, chain nuke. Don't be surprised if Bind breaks before you finish casting your first nuke. Mine always did so I stopped using it. The pole will swing between spells and can be used to finish easies... er... easily.

Ok Thanks for your help, i might try joining with a WAR or MNK and if i have no luck there Bind seems to be my best friend :p

My biggest tip is at level 8 (or 9 is easier because of Aero) start fighting worms in Konschtat, they are by Gusgen Mines and will con EM-T to you, but you should be able to take them out by running out of their cast range when you need MP.

I always use a wand with +INT.

I found using staves was a bit better until you started partying, then getting the wand with the most +int was your best bet.
