  • Equipment Swapping

It seems apparent that, at higher levels, there is not a single configuration of equipment that is ideal for all situations. So, in order to be most effective, a BLM would swap between different configurations during battle. Assuming that at least some of you aren't lazy enough to not do this, what kind of equipment swapping do you do (or would you do if you had the equipment you wanted)? Is there any sort of equipment swapping that isn't worth the effort and macro space?

Currently, I swap to Errant Body & Dark Staff while /healing... Black Cloak when I'm standing around... AF Body when I'm "enfeebling"... and appropriate elemental staff when casting dmg. Can any of this swapping be cut out? Or, should any swapping be added (i.e. should Errant Body & AF Hat be swapped to in any casting situations... is the extra +INT & +MND from a wand ever worth using)?

I do some swapping when doing enfeebling, but the real trick is to add it to the spell macros that need it. That way you don't need additional macros and it works just like if you didn't have any swapping to do. Such as my paralyze does this (if I had Promise badge  ) :
    /equip main "Solid Wand"
    /equip neck "Promise Badge"
    /ma "Paralyze" <bt>
    /wait 4
    /equip main "Dark Staff"
    /equip neck "Holy Phial"

I remember Applie Pie mentioned once if you needed the equipment before you start casting or right before it casts, but I can't remember which it is, so I just cover the whole range.

I guess one of the things I'm asking is: When, if ever, does the swapping become excessive? If you wanted to continue down the same route for something like Paralyze, you could possibly be swapping to things like AF Body, Enfeebling Torque, Mythic Wand, and 2x Sapphire Ring if you really wanted to increase your chances of having the spell hit. (Personally, I'd probably leave out the wand and rings from the list...)
