As you can see on the left, I've recently turned a level 30 Black Mage (hurray me!), but now I'm at a dilemma. I have a Level 16 Red Mage as my subjob, but only to level 32 (16 Red Mage), and I wanted to know if I should ditch the Red Mage and switch to Summoner. Keep in my mind I already have a Ruby, and I HATED levelling up my Red Mage. All you high level Black Mages out there, should I ditch the Intelligence bonus for the huge MP bonus?

I think SMN actually has better +INT bonus. What you are really ditching though, is your suppotive abilities.
summoner sub is not that good prior to 50/25, and you need to get your avatars for it to be useful to your party.
Also, leveling summon without avatars is a lot more painful then leveling RDM... :sweat: I know, because I am at it right now. Just try and cap your summoning skill even just at level 5, and you will see what I mean.Junior Member?

i wouldn't change, the mp isn't worth it. i usually dont run out of mana in chains with whm sub (w/ rdm refresh) and most pt's expect you to be able to do some backup healing and having some support abilities.
of course you will never be the mainhealer, but it can save your pt if you get in a situation the mainhealer can't handle alone.
for blm, /whm and /rdm are imho the most viable options (you also get some useful tools like invis, sneak etc)Comment
