Taru BLM questions

Couple questions for my new taru blm (want to be the absolute best, even the best on my server are subpar in my opinion)

1. I'm gonna buy the ice staff, but would it be worth it to save like no tommorow and get a dark staff to compliment it? i really don't wanna, but i DO wanna be the best...

2. The elemental stats you get from a Faerie Shield: worth it? I've never known if those elem+ stats affected nuking or not.

3. I'm used to being hume and piling on the MP+, does a taru need ANY, or can i just focus on all INT gear?

1. If you want to nuke a lot go for a dark staff, unfortunately if your white mage doesn't have one your not going to see any major benefit.

2. Those are elemental resist stats, the shield is for blm's who have 60k and want to look cool.

3. I'm a hume and I use both, a taru can get away without much or any mp+ gear, the problem that arises is that too much -hp gear will make you a one hit dirt eater.

1. yes, get both. i love it, i hardly get resists and i regain mp like a madman. make sure you don't overnuke...this was the first problem i had to overcome after getting ice staff. i was so used to getting resists that i nuked a whole lot (had dark staff to compensate). since i got the ice staff, i had to nuke considerably less as i'd draw aggro fairly easily. with the dark staff, you're allowed much more freedom on what you can and cannot cast (due to mp constraints).

2. altruist hit the nail on the head. if you're getting staves, you won't be able to use a shield anyway...however, feel free to pair up an astral shield with a wand of some sort when you're doing quests or missions that don't require you to fight IT mobs.

3. i'm a hume blm, i don't pile up on +mp gear at all. in fact, i have only a gold hairpin. the rest of my gear are AFs or int-based gear. i have just over 600mp, far more than enough for me to do my job effectively. basically, go after +int.

Decided not to buy the ice staff, as my taru blm is gonna be in a set PT of other 60+ people doing new jobs....

MNK, PLD, WAR, BLM, RDM, BRD....

Don't think i'm gonna need the MP, if ya catch the meaning.

Nor will i buy the BLM shields or astral, for it's a million gil and I don't need MP nor like less HP.

Just over 600 for a hume....well as a lvl 30 hume BLM, i doubt i could handle that. Whatever works for you tho...
