  • Gil Hunting?

i had a terrible experience last night where some higher level people (two people) came up and shouted insults about my not so great equipment to anyone near by... that just was so uncalled for and immature, really turned my stomach and upset me... i just glad they couldn't see how many spells i was missing...

so now i want to get better equipment, but i am really broke, really poor... where can a level 23 blm/11 whm farm and get decent gil... i would really like any help or advice you could possibly give...

Gil is a funny thing in this game, at level 50 I have every spell spare Ice Spikes (I'll hunt it) and Poison II (useless compared to Bio II) and I have no idea how I afford it all. Granted, there is some gear like the nymph shield and morion earrings that I'd like to get my hands on, but for the mean time I've got everything I need. I'm not sayin I'm rich either, I have 17k on me right now, and about 30k on the ah from farming and gardening.

I suppose your best bet is to try mining, or logging if you can. Also questings makeds some cash. If you can start a garden that's always nice too.

Fishing is how I got to 50. After 50 things get way cheaper as far as spells. Never once did I not get a spell as soon as I could ( except the more useless ones like poisonga, poison2). Grab alot of insect paste and a carbon rob and fish for moat carp in your home town. 1 stack is 4k on carbuncle, and as much as its fished I can still sell it for 4k over night at the latest even if the price is down to 3k. Now Im 54 and have all my spells to 60 except Flare ( 350k .. oof). Now my fishing is of sufficient lvl to catch Nebimonites which sell for 12k + a stack. After I get done with those I can go on to red terrapin which are even more $$.

      /em hands on3yedcat a fishing rod.

whoa...what were you using? that is really uncalled for. i'll let my pickup members slide (if they're mages) using the level 1 robe even in qufim or yuhtunga...

Poison II is far from useless...especially since it stacks with Bio II. usually, i'll have the red mage cast it since it'll stick better when he uses it anyway. When I got hit by a fallen mage's poison II in garlaige citadel, i was taking 7 damage per tick. add this to bio II's 2 damage per tick and 3 elemental debuffs (capped elemental, level 54) about 3-4 damage per tick each. altogether, thats about 18-21 damage per tick. rdm casts poison II and regular debuffs, i cast bio II (or whm dia II) and i cast the elemental debuffs.

now...for money making, it really sucks for a taru blm because you're so weak physically...so you'll have to stick to farming the easy stuff. silk in east or west (i prefer west) saruta is good money, selling at about 10k per stack. the coronets you find off of mandragoras and crawler calculi can be turned in for respectable gil as well as fame. at that level, this is probably sufficient for getting up to date equipment and spells...fishing works well too. moat carp sells very quickly and for about 3-4k per stack.

Ok, first Taru Blm are great at Gil hunting. AoE is all I have to say.

This is what you do. (I hope your from Windy.)

Go to Giddeus with an Empty inventory and go and cast blind on a yagudo and then run from it. Do that to like 3 of them, then just run in front of other Yagudo. (At 23 get about maybe 10 together.) Then once all of them are around you, cast Stonega. (Shit what lvl do you get Stonega, can't remember, been a while since I was that low.) But none the less.(I think you have it at 23.) You do that and the Yagudo will drop a "Yagudo Necklace" and "Silver Beast Coins". Keep all of those. There are also alot of NM's in Giddeus. I know one that is a lvl 16 I think.

Now take the Yagudo necklaces and synth them with a wind crystal. You will get grass thread. Synth that with a earth crystal you will get grass cloth. I know on Seraph, grass cloth in stacks of 12 well for about 4k.

Keep doing that for one full day, and you will make enough money for your spells and equipment. Also there is a quest in Windurst that you get at the Orastery that they send you in Giddeus that pays 900 dollars. You can do that each time also.

Now with the Silver Beast Coins get a stack of 12 and sell them on the AH also they sell for about 6k for a stack of 12.

That is how I keep money for a long time. Mining is also really good to make money.

One more thing, if someone is going to make fun of your equipment, they must be an idiot, because that is just really rude.

Ghelsha is where i get gil, its not that great though lol, its only good for instant gil, not getting items to sell.

If people are gonna make fun of your equipment, then they have alot of time on there hands, you should just ignore them.

Whoever said poison II is useless is funny. Poison II is the most mp effiecient damage spell in the game, depending on how long your's sticks. (38 mp for around 500 damage anyone?) Drain comes close but you also need low HP.

Poison II is really that powerful?! O_O Wow, you're not overexaderating are you? I mean, is that with caped enfeeble and stuff? Is that also with other DMG draining abilities on (I.e Shock, Bio, ect.)? 500 DMG seems like kind of a lot of DMG for one small thing like Poison II O_o

It's effiecency comes from the healing. 21 mp for around 150-250 damage and near equivalent to cure III makes it the most effiecent spell I have.

If you get poison 2 casted on you it does 8 hp/3 sec (well 7hp/3sec on me since WHM auto regen). My poison 2 sticks for around 200-400 seconds (seems to be quite random) I have capped enfeeble, AF coat (+10), enfeeble torque (+7) and around 100+ int. This totals anywhere from 450-600 damage. I'm not suggesting you to spam poison 2, but keeping it on the mob the whole fight after around 100 fights or so while leveling up really adds up. Now, I'm not entirely sure if my poison 2 does 8 hp/3 sec on mobs but that is what it does when casted on me by mobs or other PCs (BST NM in dynamis).....
