ancient magic?

whats ancient magic aside from its a drop and has insane casting times?....whats the damage compared to all the normal spells?
whats the use of the spells?.....ect

Damage is big..

Regular freeze can hit for 750 or so..

Magic bursted it can hit as high as 1200 or so..

drinks mana, roughly 310 a cast

takes forever to cast.

A lot of people use it when they first get it for magic bursting..

just make sure it will kill the mob you cast it on.. otherwise its gonna head right for you

I wish I could have the 350k that I spent on all of the anc magic spells back (no Flare) because the need for them is so infrequent it doesn't warrant the large-ish pricetag. In a nutshell as a hume at lvl 62:

casting 3 version 3 spells: 1150-1400 dmg, 330-350mp
casting Flood: 920dmg, 368mp

Doing either of those takes approx the same amount of time to cast, yet the large advantage goes to the former. This is not to mention that Thundaga2 bursts for 800-900 for 196mp.

Anc magic doesn't make much sense to me just yet =(

I've used them for bursting regularly in one pt.
I was lvl 60 we had no whm

Pld/war
Sam/rgr
DRK/sam
Rdm/whm
Blm/whm
BRD/whm

We were lvl 58-60 and fighting cockatrices in Cape Terrigan. It was a rather simple formula Guilotine/Sidewinder/Burst= Dead cockatrice. Refresh + MBI +MbII = constant supply of mp. The nearby groups thought we were insane.....

There was the one tpw due to large scale petrification and a goblin add. Otherwise we were burning thru xp at an incredible pace....

Unless you are fighting Maat showing off because you are about to lvl or trying to impress a noob stick to the gaII or elementalIII spells. Or you have a brd and a rdm in your group to actually make it easy.
