I am gonna attempt this, it seems to be a pretty interesting combination, don't you think?

I doubt it. Though I do think that almost any class combination can somehow be made to work by a player which is sufficiently skilled, it will be unlikely to be most effective at their job. Though I know from experience that the odd thing, done very well, can turn out better, at times.
I don't personally feel that Dragoon/Black Mage will work that way, though. Black Mage will have a limited MP pool, and spells half the level of the Dragoon, plus the magic skills will cap at half the level of real mages. In the end, spells are likely to be highly resisted, and while as a Taru, you might have an almost passable MP pool, it won't do much good if the spells don't hit for much. The spellcasting delay will likely cost you an attack, and the spell will probably do less damage than the attack would have.
Red Mage or White Mage might work, for buffs, but any subjob that does not share abilities with the primary job will have significant difficulty using any abilities designed to damage the enemy. Red Mage, come to think of it, seems like an interesting course to go with an 'attacker' job, because of the En spells. Giving your weapon extra damage might make up for the loss of another melee subjob and it's stat/accuraccy/attack bonuses, and then you gain the other versatility of a Red Mage's spells. I think it's been done, infact.Koyasha, Paladin, Red Mage, White Mage...

yep, drg/rdm seems pretty interesting...u can read about it here . the only purpose for subbing a mage class with dragoon is probably for healing breath. spells will be resisted probably 90% due to low int/mnd stats. subbing rdm or whm seems more viable than blm for soloing since cures are actually useful.

Yes it would, just take the extra time to get +1 items for attack or acc and use lots of food. I've been told by multiple taru drg and non taru drg that they can do decent damage. Sure you work harder than the average drg, but i think your much cooler. Try bastokan subligar (I think i have that name right, it has a blue border around it). It gives +5 attack. That should make up for you lack of str for a while. Good luck. (btw, if your super anal about being the best, sure start over, but you certainly dont have too).

A *very* unique look at DRG/BLM, but only works after lvl 60 (you need the AF helm, and you'll also want some carapace armor for the latent effect: defense up it provides).
Up til 60 go with DRG/WAR or DRG/THF (WAR is better IMO for berserk, as opposed to a gimped sneak attack once every minute). After that, it seems DRG/BLM does great for soloing. Try it out.
I believe in karma. Anyone I treat badly probably deserved it.
