Final AF quest is ridiculously impossible

Ok for the last AF piece "Wizard's Coat" you need to get a Monastic Cavern key off of Orcish farkillers and Dreadnaughts. Seems simple enough, but I think Square-Enix broke the drop rate for it somewhere along the line because I have now gone out for it 4 times, each time staying 2-3 hours and not once has a single key EVER dropped. Is there something I'm doing wrong or does my luck just plain suck?:confused:

my PT got 2 keys in 1 1/2 hours...

67 thf/war, 62 sam/war, 60 blm/whm, 60 blm/whm(Botted by the sam), and for the first hour, 60 brd/whm.

you can imagine how slow each mob took to die...

Are you sure we are fighting the same Orcs?

I always fight Orcish Farkillers, Dragoon, Dreadnaught, and Champion.

btw just got back from my 5th time with no key but we killed the Orcish Hexspinner and i got a scroll of Stonega II

Our alliance as well believe that the droprate has been changed since the last emergency patch or something. Before it, we and several others got a few keys in a few hours... but afterwards, when trying to get just ONE more key, it took us 9 hours in two trips before it dropped. No other coffer key has taken this long.

Just wondering... I've noticed that there are Orcish Dreadnoughts and Orcish Farkillers found outside Monastic Cavern in Davoi too... Are we able to get the keydrop by fighting the same mobs outside? Thanks in advance for the replies

It took me over 26 played hours to get mine.

Just keep in mind that no keys drop past the banishing wall even though they are the same mobs =)

Something that i noticed is that keys dont drop if the chest is taken. I help alot of friends with Coffer key hunts and i noticed this.So next time you go check if a coffer is available and then hunt for key.

I never noticed that to be the case.

I got my Davoi key on the 3rd orc...it's all luck.

When i got my davoi coffer key, about 6 hours spent there. (not always camping the key.)

First key dropped off the first orc. Then 2nd, 3rd and 4th key's during a one hour period. Then no keys for a good 2-3 hours. And again, another 3 keys within 15 minutes.

So really, the drop rate is beyond weird. I'm done trying to understand it.

I have opened a coffer and then 5 minutes later gotten a key, so the "keys only drop when there's a coffer around" theory is false. Well, 'I' as in, my party.

If you open a coffer for AF isnt the respawn time ~ 5 min?
