Mithra Black Mages?

I have only one character right now, a mithra that I was levelling as a thief. After I got my subjob, I thought it would be fun to mess around with the other jobs, and found that I kind of enjoy being a mage. But what I want to know is if mithra can be effective black mages, 'cause I've heard about how elvaan black mages have trouble with their spell damage, and don't get invited to parties. Without a party, levelling as a black mage is impossible. Already I noticed in Valkurm, I could only get 18 damage on a hill lizard with aero, and the book says that they're weak against wind.

Btw, I was level 11 as a black mage, I have a windurst ring and a willow rod to increase my int, but my elemental magic is about level 33. For some reason I can't get it higher, even though I know it isn't maxed

mithra black mages are just as effective as humes...they have the exact same int stat, though their other stats vary a bit, none of which will affect your mithran mage all too much except mind (if you sub whm or rdm, which you most likely will). their mp and hp stat is exactly the same though.

as for your elemental skills, just keep at it, it'll raise sooner or later....and also, if you're fighting IT monsters, your magic will be resisted quite a bit, especially earlier on...it'll get better, no worries.

You forgot MND. As far as Black Magic goes, Mithra are fine, except I ~think~ hume RSE adds one point more int. No big deal.

doh, what do u know, you're right...mithras have lower mind, which is totally useless for a blm in itself; however most blms sub whm or rdm, in which case mnd becomes quite a valuable stat...not quite as valuable as int, but valuable nonetheless.
i also forgot about chr, but thats neither here nor there

Keep in mind that mind (oops, really, no pun intended) that mind is really easy to boost. It's much easier to boost than int. If you really want to, just put a justice badge on instead of a black neckerchief. You'd only lose +1 int for +3 mnd. Have fun! I love blm, you should to. Also, if your worried about mp, i'm a taru and i usualy have about 100-150 more mp than other races. The thing is, I rarely get below 200 mp in battle. The extra mp only really helps in long chains, so you should be fine.
