War goin blm/whm when i get sub

currently im a lv 17 Elvaan War , and if i was to have Blm/whm as my job after quest would this be a stupid idea? i really wanna experience being a mage

nothing wrong with changing jobs. elvaan make the 2nd worse BLM but race isn't an issue in this game that much

well... this is what i did....

i played war and monk with my elf, and got the subjob quest done. then i played as whm and blm... (both combo's)

i ended up getting to lvl 21 with both blm and whm. then... after much consideration i started a second character that is a taru. i was really sick of being out of mp before fights were over.

if you just want to dabble with magic, elvaan is fine. if you want to be a elvaan whm, that works well due to their high MND. however... if you want to be career BLM... i would recommend putting some serious consideration into starting a second character. i regret that i didn't do it sooner (as i kinda wasted 21 lvl's x2 before i started my taru)

now, if you just want to be a jack-of-all-trades, then by all means level up everything!

I don't find MP to be that much of a problem - sure, I have less MP than Tarus, but it's sufficient for most purposes. Elvaans have the highest MND and therefore make quite nifty WHMs. However, they have the lowest INT out of all races, and INT is what decides about strength of your BLM spells. Therefore, they make rather bad BLM. If you invest in a lot of INT+ gear and RSE, you should be fine, though. It's not ideal, but it can be done.

If you are serious about playing a BLM/WHM, I would strongly recommand you to go with a Taru, or atleast a Mithra or a Hume.

The 2 most important stats for a BLM are MP and INT, and Elvaan has neither. Althought you might be able to spend millions on uber gears to try and correct your stats, but just think, how much stronger you would be with the same gears as a taru?

I keep 2 characters, a taru and an elvaan for the same reason: I want to try both the melee side and the caster side of the game, but don't want to take the middle-of-the-road hume.
