killed him tonight...no drop
lv63 rdm, lv59 whm, lv59 drk, lv58 blm (me)
Fairly easy...took a bunch of MP to kill. 2 stuns prevented bomb drops...aspirable...fairly easy as far as valuable NMs go.

Not true, i soloed this NM as a BLM level 65, just fight it the same way you fight maat. Sleep and nuke, sleep and nuke. Rest your MP when you need to.
i couldn't Sleep it, elemental seal + sleep2 = no go...
but killed it with my drg friend.. and another time a passing 75smn killed for me... but no drop BOTH TIMES.. i'm getting tired of this freakin gob.. and i died once there with a swarm of Cocktrice on me >< lost 1700xp for that..
I swear, I'm not hunting this thing again until I get a thief with THII to accompany me. Common drop my ass, this makes 3 kills with no drop ; ;

I got my drop (finally), and made about 75k in the process. Had a 60 drg/thf and a 64 brd/whm accompany me while we tore through everything in the cave until he spawned. If anyone on midgardsormr needs the moldavite, let me know. If you're willing to stand around for up to 2 hours, and pass on the crap we lot, we'll take you along. If you're our level (60ish), we'll split loot and help you kill Mysticmaker.

I had a 66drk and 67 (I think) whm kill it for me without much difficulty. It was the goblins in the cave that killed me after the fight. >.<
He dropped first kill, no problem, and I have terrible luck with drops...
I was experimenting with this earring because apparently the improvements to magic are passive and, from what I can tell, only have an effect during a magic burst. I noticed that a Freeze burst was amplified about about 60 damage with the earring but most other spells remained the same. I'm thinking that this earring combined with the Sorcerer's Ring (lvl 50 blm ring with +10 Magic Attack Bonus) would equal even more damage in a magic burst.
I noticed an increase in average damage on mobs where my spells were rarely resisted. On the goblins on onzozo, my Aero III went from ~450 up to a max of ~490. Unfortunately, I haven't been in an exp party since getting the earring, so I won't be able to do any tests until then.
My lv64 rdm friend has them, and he's said he's noticed a steady 4-5% increase in damage. From what I can tell so far, that's approximately correct. More info on this as I do testing.

I've killed that gob at least 20 times, 9k from kill (15 thief sub) and 3-8k for scrolls makes my cockatice hunting that much better ^^. It's an easy solo for 65+ rdm. Saw a 69 bard/whm try to solo and doesn't work, enhancing skill too low, and poor magic defense. BLM + Mage should be ok, I didn't get phalnax till 68 and just beat him with stoneskin + blink before. With phalnax I don't even have to convert while fighting him.
Onzozo isn't always full and this isn't a highly camped mob, so just ask one of the rdm's farming cockatrice (and if there is a 65+ rdm in there that's what they are doing) to help you get it. Good chance they already have it and only want the gil from the kill and scrolls. Offer to help kill cockatrice with him/her till it pops (2 hour) or offer a cash reward. I do it all the time, still it feels kind of weird when your helping a blm with a demonic cloak and phantom earrings get an item when you've never had more than 200k in your life ; ;.
However, be careful with pld's tanking this gob, easy one shot freeze to most PLD's (killed a level 69 galka pld, with 1500dmg freeze). I have only silenced this gob once now, and have never been able to sleep him, I have +23 int and 267 enfeeble. Best use of mana is to paralyze him and slow him. (stun from what i've heard has a very low success rate with him as well)
The beast myth: "I hear it gets better next level"
My pet has more HP right now than a level 75 galka monk >.> If only it could provoke...
Several people in my LS (including me) have been getting their earrings over the past couple of days.
What I can add:
- 60 rdm *can* solo him w/ phalanx and good strategy (keep up stoneskin and blink, silence as long as possible).
- Save yourself a lot of time and bring a Thf -- of course, there's always bad luck, but ... everytime we've had a thf there it has dropped. It seems to be a 1 in 3 drop without TH2.
- The spawn time ranges from 2 to 3 hours from the moment of his death.
Are these things worth the money at mid 30's- early 40's ya think,i'm a lvl 34blm and i've been addicted to -ga farming with thf sub the past week b/c to me it's much more fun than xping and i've got about 150k saved, my gear is pretty much just the best eq you can get for my lvl i would say excluding faerie shield and mage slacks, now i'm pondering on whether i should buy two of these right now, they are around 80-90k a piece on ramuh, or just keep saving so i can buy everything i want right away once i hit 50's when gear and spells get really costly, i keep hearing how they are the best you can get for awhile but +1 int just doesn't seem that great for the money unless you got excess to spend.
personally i think i'd rather spend that money on spells and saving up for larger items with greater rewards. But if i found myself in a wealth of gil with no real new equip prospects I... Would probably invest in cooking instead
Thing is 100k for +1 int and +4 mp for a taru isnt really too important untill your trying to perfect your equip. Really I would rather be able to get my cooking skill up enough to be able to craft drinks for my party and myself while exp'ing or just hanging out.
But of course this is just opinion, and no i dont have Morion earrings yet so i dont really know how effective they are :spin:
