BLM Melee?

Not that im crazy, but I've been some BLM fighting up close in battles using there staffs and magic at the same time. Is that a good thing or bad thing? Just wondering.

It's kind of necessary to melee until you can learn Bind at lvl 7. Only problem with melee for BLM (besides the obvious) is when you get hit, your spells get interupted. Timing is everything.

Depends on what they're doing, but if they're leveling up that's usually a bad idea.

The reason is that alot of the monsters you fight to level up will have abilitys or spells that hit everyone close to the monster. Alot of times these can be bad to fatal if they hit blm's, some bad/annoying ones are sleep, silence, int down, etc... others can be large damage things, for example bombs from goblins (seen these go as high as 299 dmg, which can be death).

On the other hand if your killing weak things for quests or gil then you're safe meleeing and it's probably more efficient too.

Oh ya I guess it depends if you're talking about in a party or not, if they're soloing, even with bind the monster is probably going to make it's way to them (unless it's a worm or something) and then they might as well melee.
