Trying to pick a sub

Heya,

for sometime now i've been trying to nail the right subjob for my blm, iam not interested in going another fully dedicated mage nor subbing my blm because in my eyes it would really cut off most of my dmg, so with that out the way iam tossing up between 2 options

blm/bard
blm/sum

now i know subbing either of them isnt suggested but to keep it in the right frame of mind iam going for a pure dmg dealer (without delving into other major mages) now could anyone give me some input on either of these 2 subs i have kinda come to relise that sum would give me a few more mp's + some mana regen and also the ability to use summon skill for blink and dodgy cure in times of rest

and i have come to relise that even thou i would only be able to sing 1 song at a time i could still focus it on mana regen or just something that pt's wouldnt mind if they dont have a fully dedicated bard

I'm beyond happy with whm. With a 11 whm sub I was able to take over as primary healer in a 6 person PT that earned 125 xp / kill comfortably.

I've decided to level BLM to 30 rather than RDM, I was getting sick of the wierd PT configs forced on me, and I seem to find better PTs as a BLM. I'm doing it with /RDM instead of /WHM, simply because I am well and truly sick of being the main healer to the noobs/idiots* I always seem to get invites from. Once I'm 30 and have whatever advanced jobs I care to toy with I'll level WHM and get serious... RDM doesn't seem like it's a very good as a sub for BLM.

Odd thing I've noticed, I do a "/sea all BLM" and get 250 or so hits, and I do it for WHM and get 500+ hits... I filtered out those less that level 10 and got just about the same ratio. I guess BLM will be in more demand than WHM... which doesn't seem right at all.


*I'm a noob too, but some of these of the people I've PTed with REALLY take the cake. Hume WHM/WAR who thinks he's a tank and Provokes first thing in the fight, then melees, wtf...

The reverse is true. There are more white mages because they are more in demand.

Also, not sure if that search shows subclasses. WHM is a pretty popular class to sub and not just by other mages. Bards, summoners, and some paladins...and, of course, people that take some levels of WHM for solo'ing reasons. BLM, on the other hand, is only popular to sub for mages, as lower caps on elemental magic means nukes get resisted and so all BLM brings you is more mana and some mana related job effects.

If you want a Mage Nuker go with a BLM/RDM.
BLM/RDM is better For nuking because of Fast Cast and RDM's also give you some extra enfeeblement that WHM's and BLM's Don't have.

It doesn't include support jobs. It's true though... it's much harder to find a BLM than it is to find a WHM. I'm shocked, because the time I spent as main healer as a RDM was the most boring time I've ever had playing the game.
