Are blackmages the best dmg dealers?

I was wondering if blackmages are the best damage dealers in the game. Do they get outdone by other classes at any levlels? I was just hoping they would be the best and would like to know if any other classes are stronger.

Rangers do the most damage from my experience. It really just depends on the level and what weapons skills you have.

No, a good a ranger does the most damage. Blm would probably be second though.

Well thats dissapointing. That kinda sucks that black mages are probably weaker but do less damage. Guess i might be a ranger instead then. Unless someone coul dpoint out advantages to the black mage.

Once you buy a spell you have it forever, but you always have to buy new arrows or bullets.

Yeah blackmages only have to regain mp or whatever, and that stuff is free

Advantages BLM>RNG

Yes, the RNG's highest WS is the most powerful attack in the game. Assuming that they have awesome accuracy and lot's of money to keep up arrows/bullets. Also it's a very hard/long road since they MISS A LOT at low lvs. BLM will have an INFINATLY easier time getting into a PT esp... As a BLM/WHM although BLM/RDM works too. MP recovery is a lot easier than Gil. More useful against elemental enemies. All in all, both are very good, BLM will be easier though.

rangers may hit harder with that WS, but if im correct you cant just use the WS over and over (you need TP?...i dont have the game...) on the other hand as a BLM you can cast whatever whenever as long as you have the MP.

also your not going to be able to blind, sleep, bind, poison, etc as a ranger.

also, assuming you pick blm/whm (or blm/rdm to a lesser extent) your going to be able to heal people, cure status, and other nifty thing rangers arnt doing.

so yeah, they may have an attack that hits harder, but is all your looking for 1 attack?

good points all. Yeah the utilities of a blm/whm would add a lot of usefullness for sure. I think im back to wanting blm now heh. I just like huge damage a lot and the fact a ranger could survie gaining hate bettter is always nice. How much more does a ranger do? A ton, or just some.

OK might be some confusion here.

Blm have the most damaging attacks in the game, especially against elemental and enemies with with armor.
But the Blm attacks are slow, so over all a ranger will do more damage. And Ranger's attacks are not much weaker than a blm.

A gun from a ranger might put out enough damage to match a blm though. But guns are really expensive, thus you do not see them used all the time.

But if you take the average hit from a ranger and the average spell damage from a blm. The blm usually comes out on top. But as I said average over all ranger from a ranger is higher then a blm.

Plus blm are a lot more versatile then a ranger.

Dunno I have played both. Personally I like ranger better, just the cost can be a real killer. So thus is why I am playing blm in NA. Then use that money that would have gone to arrows, on juices and other cool status stuff.

Thats odd. A Ranger hits the highest damage. Thats kinda odd but whatever works.Its still kinda weird.
