    Re: Sea Serpent Grotto*

For BST Duo, lv 63 and 64

So here ya go. My BST partner and I headed to SSG at 64 but I am confident that 63 would be awesome here because our pets where mostly DC to low T to begin with. Everything behind the door agros to Sound, so keep sneak up.

Having the map helps, and most BST should have it by now. Even if you don't it is not hard to get too. Take a Gold coin and go through the gold door. Follow the left wall until you get to the ledge at (H-9) on the map. Drop down here with Sneak up. The tunnels here Zig-Zag a bit, but there is only really 2 ways to go, up and back out, or down and further in. There are cliffs to drop off of, but you shouldn't do it. Easier to just learn the tunnels and pull to a safe spot.

My partner and I camped the tunnel at (G-10). We converted most all of the Dire Bats and Robber Crabs to EM or DC+ by killing off any Toughs that popped. If you camp at (G-10) there is enough room in this tunnel to fight between the Dire Bat at the top and the robber crabs at the bottom without agro.

To pull, use one of the Robber crabs at the bottom of the (G-10) tunnel, and Sneak pull. Dont worry about links, If they happen just Release the crab before you get back to camp to lose the links then run past your partner to charm a Dire Bat from the top of the tunnel.

Target mobs are Devil Mantas (66-69) and Sahagins (Delta, Shore, Lagoon 66-72). The mobs all ranged T-VT to us at 64, and I am thinking lv 63 would rock in this place with all mobs being VT+ and pets being plentiful. 64 worked well, with plenty of VT Devil Mantas and the occasional VT Sahagins. The Sahagins link, but easy to pull with {Leave}. I don't think the Mantas will link, but I'm not sure as they are ussually too spread out to find out. The Mantas actually go down pretty easy. They don't have a big Defense, but they have a nasty AoE that also can do VIT down or STR down.

Delta Sahagins are Dragoon type I guess, but they never used Jump or Wyvern, just a pole arm. Shore are MNK type and the hardest to take down. Shore have an AoE Stun and massive HP Pool, but nothing to really worry about. I just tried to start my chains with Shore Sahagins, because they can take longer to kill and end an Chain because they can take to long. Lagoons are WHM type and cast Cure V or Curaga 2, but they are not as bad as other WHM types because they never seemed to cast many Diaga or Banishaga spells. With {Rampage} they are pretty easy to take down before a Cure V can be cast.

One more note, and its IMPORTANT. As a BST I was really tempted to pull up or down the ledges here with my pets. I would advise against this. The mobs track funny here as it is and you could end up with trains, but up to you. I just ran the zig-zag with Sneak up, I never dropped off cliffs to pull, or sent a mob down cliffs or up them to pull. ALSO IMPORTANT: Sahagins can agro from the ledges above if you get to close without {Sneak}, but most of the tunnels where you would camp (ie.. G-10) are free of Sahagins and not under the cliffs.

I really liked this spot and hope some other BST Duos can use it. I only wish I had come here at 63 instead of {Cape Terrigan}. This may also be a good camp for Solo BST as well, with plenty of pets for Swaps, but I wont comment on it since I have not soloed much since lv 50.

EDIT: I almost forgot. Watch out for Rain weather. An Water Elemental spawns at the top of the G-10 Tunnel. Rain ussually didnt seems to last too long, but we kept going by running to the bottom of the G-10 tunnel and charming the 2 Robber Crabs here to cast our Sneaks or Regen/Cures safely. The Elemental comes close enough to agro if you cast while fighting at G-10, but it was never a problem for us to not cast buffs durring a fight, or too run down the hill to cast.

      Re: Sea Serpent Grotto*

Sea Serpent Grotto has leveling spots for levels 36-40ish and 51-54ish.

      SSG /Sahagin Circle/:
This is a very nice area to level at 36-38ish. The first area after you enter has leeches and sahagins. Sahagins are only aggro here and they aggro sound. Leeches are your main pets here. Sahagins your main targets. There are also bats around for random pets/targets.

There are MNK, BRD and WHM Sahagins. The BRD ones will go down fast without much trouble but the WHMs can Cure III themselves and make the fight last a lot longer. MNKs are rather straight forward and easy fights. The problem is that it takes a lot of time to kill one and your pet might uncharm. Open chains with the MNKs and WHMs and end them with BRD ones. Just keep running the circle and killing all sahagins at sight.

Duo works here also but we ran out of targets quite fast.

      SSG /Leech Room/:
Camp here after the exp from previous camp starts to slow down or is there's a party or another bst in the last camp. I can't remember the exact levels of this area but up to 39 is probably fine.. You'll still use leeches as pets which is nice but you'll be killing Skeletons now. There's a room full of leeches when you head towards Norg from the last camp and turn the opposite way from the door to Norg. Around the leech room there are Skeletons wandering around.

Ok... As I said the room if FULL of leeches. So you don't want your pets to uncharm or you'll have an army on top of you. Charm leeches away from the main group to avoid mass links and send them against the skeletons. Skeletons' AoEs suck so it's mostly better let the pet fight and just get new pets until you can finish the skeletons yourself. Do pet swaps as neccessary to avoid uncharms around other leeches.

      Double Post Edited:
      SSG /Behind Mythril Door/:
To get here you need a Mythril Beastcoin which you can farm from goblins or buy from AH. The camp is very good from 51 up to 53-54. I left around 53 but saw another BST level here at 54. Pets are leeches and target sahagin like in the first camp in SSG. It's hard to explain how to get to the Mythril door so I suggest to take a look at ffxi-atlas. Basically, when you enter SSG, hug left wall until you see stairs going down (you can't come climb them back up). The continue to hug left until you see an Ornamented Door (mispell?). Go left from there to a tunnel leading down. You'll come to big chamber with a bridge going from the middle (at higher level). Hug to the right and walk under the bridge and you'll come to a door. Examine the door until it keeps repeating the exact same thing over again, then trade mythril coin.

Best place to camp here is when you go straight forward and turn right. You'll end up in a deadend with torch in it. There are leeches and sahagins for you to kill. Sahagins aggro sound and link. ?Ironshells? (crabs anyway) aggro sound also. Pull sahagins to your little corner and fight them there to avoid any links.

Occasionally a NM sahagins pop there. Don't try to kill it. There's usually a couple of hi-levels people camping some other NM nearby so shout them to kill it.
