no luck at 20

hey every beast master that may come across this. i am having major problems lvling bst at lvl 20. i have now seen death twice in 2 different areas. an have basically lost the exp i earned. so let me tell you of the places.

so i went to alla an went to the bst lvl guide. it named a bunch of places i could go, an what i could lvl on. so i hit a few. first place i attempted was VALKUM DUNES. so i headed to j-6. an searched for some dc or evan match pets. but all i could see was toughs every where i looked, 2 out of 20 conned evan match to me at 20. so i figured i go tough on what ever, an jump in to help kill, then have the pet stay so i could heel, an see it comming. but crab on crab was brutal, an basically every fight was like that. well it wasnt that long after that i lost charmed an died because mobs love to land critcals on me..

ORDELLES CAVE <SP> so i went there. an fought my way to the spot the lvl guide talked about. i was doing ok. nothing to celebrate over, but excp was decent an steady. but then i took on mr steriod leech. i ened up using every mob around me. an almost died. so i hid in the nook between a rock an a wall, an heeled, but as i approached too help my pet, i took aggro from an ep with low def/eva. so decided to bring a bunch of stink bats with him. an i died.

is there a better more reliable spot to lvl? something doesnt sit right with me when i am sitting here with the most chr i can get with exception of a monster sig, an stuff like this happens. lizard armor, latern sheild, a lvl 20 +1 axe i made. an yet i taste dirt.

so did anyone have better luck someplace else at 20? if so where was that at???

I did my level 18 to 20 or was it 21 in a normal Party in the Dunes. Then i started with crabs,and flys vs. Gobos later on leech vs. Gobos.

In between i was in bubu hunting fish, dhameel,crawlers and gobos.

Left the dunes at around lv25 since then i'm in Qufim.

Bat vs. Worms, Crabs vs. Boneys/Gigas.

And you might have to wait only a few mins until the right mob pops, since the levelrange is about 4 levels there of the mob.

I cant be sure, but I think at 20 hung around Jugner and/or Ordelles. Jugner has lots of things to charm, but I cant recall their levels. I think you can do the leeches against pretty much anything since they are so strong. Might want to refer to the guide on allah to be sure. Ordelles, deep in is good where there are saplings, bats, and leeches. Links are a problem if you fail a charm, so always try to charm a mob away from others.

If you find youre dying a lot leveling bst solo, I got news for you. IT'S PREFECTLY NORMAL. Dude, I cant count how many times I've died as bst. Especially up until 35. It really sucks being stuck with a pet with no way to get rid of it except to kill it off.

I died so much at the early levels, I PRAYED for a raise each time just so I wouldnt have to trek all the way back to my hunt spot... exp wasnt even a factor once I got used to it.

My advice is just follow the guide, its pretty good (for those levels- later on its not too useful) and prepare to die, because theres nothing you can do about it. If you can, hook up with another BST, and kill toughs exclusively.

lol it is a great guide, but i am finding useless holes in the lvling locations. i have done most of the list on my way to 20, an some locations are not even worth the time an effort.

i think the biggest problem i have had with ordelles cave is the cheap aggros that go on there. i shouldnt have to be worried about aggro from ep, let alone ep with low eva, an def. an i really dont want to sit there an clear out the ep bats so i can lvl. to me it just waists time, an emergency mobs. but if thats the best location for me at this lvl. i guess to be safe i will have to do it.

mobs in the area are stink bats, leechs, saplings, an hognosed bats. i know that the hognosed bat intimidates the saplings. but the hognosed are always e.p to me. is another mob stronger vs the other. then what i just mentioned??

No, thats about it. Everything you mentioned is NON-aggro except the damn hognosed bats. They were a thorn in my side since they aggro, and link with the normally non-aggressive stink bats. I was very cautious in that area because of this. Best advice is to charm the hognosed and use them as starter pets on the saplings. Therefore you accomplish 2 things... you weaken the prey and get rid of the hognose. Try not to fight against leeches... they are too strong and they link. Rather use them as pets.

Thinking back, that area of ordelles was more of a pain than it was worth. I'm not sure what level I actually went to the dunes, but I liked it a lot when I did. 20 might be a bit early though because only 1 out of every 3 mobs will be even match and they are hard to find.

I'll have to look at the guide to refresh my memory, but I'm thinking Jugner was my level spot at 20 using snippers and pugils as pets.

doing a quick run thru ordelles cave i thought to myself it was going to turn into a nightmare. it was a narrow pathway that had multiple mobs spawning close. an if i happened to mischarm, i was asking for mad ass links. i think what got me in trouble the most was the pops. id go run for a dc leech i scanned, an as i went to send it at my orginal mob, id get a hognose to spawn on me an eventually it linked with the other bats. a few times i did walk away with a miricle or 2. but it really only delayed the inevitable.

i think the location you are thinking of would be the northwest corner of the map near the big lake. i guess i can grab a bird an head there an see what that all looks like. an then go from there..
