lvl.56 and tempted to give up

Okay, we've all had problems with certain levels. But hear my cry. This has not been fun at all. Now, I am lvl.56, and there are two leveling spots.

Onzozo is aggro mania. I've had mobs spawns where I was camping. So, given that up.

Garliage Citadel is a death trap. Not only am I competing with other PTs for beetles, but I'm also fighting bombs. How the fack do you fight a bomb by yourself? I think it's impossible, since it requires multiple pets (and that's semi-hard since PTs are stealing your future pets). Not to mention the crap I'll get if the bomb explodes and some random person gets caught in the impact.

I'm seriously planning to just level grind in Bostaunieux Oubliette fighting mobs that will con as decents to me, until I get to Boyahda Tree.

And I have done a /sea all BST 54-58 every minute. Not a single NA BST on my server that is within my level range. /wave Mantronic

Not to mention this is my highest level job, and I have no clue where to go if I was to make a PT.

Edit - Thanks for the advice. Nice to know there are some levels are that just pure grinding low exp, just for the sake of looking forward to the next level. The guide on allakazham made GC look like a walk in the park.

And also, I'm down for this thread being locked. It was about a BST 56 having problems, and I think it's gotten off topic.

hehe, i found garlaige citadel loads of fun :D if they took my pets, they learned how to deal with me then ^^ Boom, 6 dead :D time to move ;p but it only takes more than 2 pets, only like 3 at lv 52-54 to kill those bombs. maybe your just getting very unlucky with them blowing up -_-;;

I hear ya, just hang in there. I'm lvl 56 too and am in a major slump.

I've tried Onzozo like the guide recommends, but over half of them still register as Tough, while there are several DCs and EMs., that place is so packed with gobs, and mobs that aggro to sound that there's no safe place to stand. I've died there twice already.

I've also tried Garliage Citadel for a bit, after waiting for over an hour, i was finally able to get through gate #3. The guide instructed to put beetles on bombs, but all the beetles still were Tough, so i decided to try anyway, and halfway through the battle with the bomb, the beetle turned on me and both him and the bomb used me as their punching bag. After a failed re-charm I used a scroll of instant warp and ended up dead in Jeuno. (I won't try that place again till i hit 57. plus if you charm Ts, you'll get an exp cut regardless...)

Bostaunieux Oubliette is nice, but there's always someone there, and with more than one BST, that place becomes crowded. I guess i'll just fight EP-DC cockatrices for a measily 50 exp and farm them for their meat to sell. 56 definitely sucks.

there really isn't any good places to go at 56 besides those already mentioned. I slogged through it at good old dungeon bostinx obliqute. Just found a day where I had some stuff I can postpone till the next day, waited for a time when no one was there and just sat there for 5 hrs till I lv'ed and moved on.

Curiously 2 bst's ran through there while I was there and they left cause everyone knows it's too crowded. I ended up leaving cause a lv 75 mnk/whm galka in HQ vermillion cloak and serket ring showed up to lv up his staff skill.

Well anyhow, that's my advice for 56. You can also go back to fei'yin and farm/exp there on stuff. Most will net crappy exp but there is the money to consider.

Try sea serpent grotto........ behind mythril door, i lvled there 56~59 and earned like 1 million gil + 3 lvls

I believe buncha coffer pops, and NM there that drops a 90k item. Also you get gil from killing sahagins :D

Garlage was such good exp at 56 with those bombs, what problem are you having. put a pet on one, put up blink, stoneskin, barfira, and you shouldn't even get hit on a pet swap. Only problem I ever had was when there were too many parties down there, and then I just waited and got behind banishing gate 2.

Now. We tried every possible alternative spot. They were "ok" but not even close to GC on a crowded night.

"getting behind the door" is ok, but the cons on the beetles vary wildly it seems.

That stuff about the grotto, behind the door, I disagree. We killed the NM shenanigan for fun, it drops some DRG lance or something and was R/Ex IIRC. Maybe we missed something, but that place didn't hold much XP at all at 56-57 etc. Too many plain Ts.

GC duo - pots, bombs, T bugs in basement using bats or behind the door killing bones with bugs.

And some people wonder why BSTs are not liked... not only stealing exp mobs from parties (one BST uses up more mobs than 2-3 parties), but admitting to MPKing them too. Too bad they didn't call GMs and get you banned. Blowing up other players should be reserved for Ballista.

If BST stays in its current state, there should be an all BST server, and no BSTs on any other server. Having them on the same server just forces BST to be the enemy of all other 14 jobs. Unless they party, but why bother? Partying takes away their ability to have the pet take 99% of the hits. Just MPK the party and kill all the same monsters yourself, get more exp and keep all the loot.

Or unless BST is fixed so that it isn't designed for MPK (a released mob doesn't aggro/link until it returns to its spawn point?), doesn't depopulate an area of monsters (don't know how to fix this one other than buffing Call Beast and Reward, charming monsters and throwing them away like used kleenex is too heavily rewarded when they're a) free, b) stronger than familiars and c) can be released to heal, also for free) and doesn't take an exp nerf in a party (although that might just lead to all-BST parties, why take one of the 14 weak jobs?). Maybe even a nerf to pet tanking (all pet attacks give some of their hate to the BST, so he has a significant hate lead over the second or third pet?)

It's aggravating to play a job that can't work with anyone else without losing most of its strength *and* taking an exp nerf. And it's even more aggravating to see your party deprived of exp mobs by one player the same level as the 6 of you, or worse, be MPKd by him.

we are not stealing anything, if you dont like it go EXP somewhere else.

We have just as much right to those monsters to use as any PT.

The funny part is the claim we use up more mobs than an XP party. That's just insanity. If we did, we'd never have enough mobs to get any XP.

In a way I can understand why BST is so hated on all the servers, but on the other hand I just think it's easy bitching for other players. Other parties steal their prey, and it seems a vast minority really have any idea how a BST gets EXP.

I've heard of some BSTs that really give a bad name to the group. The ones that go to the C.Nest, catch & release a crawler around the Lv.35-37 camps, and everybody zones. You enter the C.Nest and see like 30 Crawlers waiting for you. (Then I have fun watching Lv.75 RDM and WHM slaughter every last one of them in like 30 seconds. Fun to watch. -aga spells galore, Crawlers falling left and right! )

The only "problem" I had with BSTs was in the Western Desert. And when I say problem, I mean competition. At first there was just one BST, and the problem was the night before we did #4 and #5's pretty easily. Suddenly, we were stuck at #2 and #3s because we couldn't find Gobbys to kill.

Later there was a party of BSTs. 3 of them hunting the same thing we were, and out biggest complaint was that we were too "young" for Quicksands, but almost too "old" for the Gobbys we were hunting. ("That awkward age" as I call it.)

I've tried to level BST, and as you can see from my signature, I'm only Lv.4. Soloing with BST at that level is nothing like soloing with any other job.

Just ignore Kariyna. We all know he/she hates bst for some reason and offers absolutely zero insite or advice worth hearing.
