Mithra...

Hello, I've been toying with the idea of eventually becoming a mithran BST, but i was wondering how viable it will be to match up with say, Taru or even elvaan when it comes to charming a mob (that doesn't include stripping my mithra.. i have a taru in my LS that wants that enough as it is :sweat: ). Also, would subbing BRD be an effective solution for the needs of a BST? or would just subbing WHM be adequate?

I'm not sure how much CHR I've "lost" by being a Mithra BST but I am doing okay at level 35. I hardly ever fail a charm but I bought lots of +CHR gear (no monster signa yet though). Then I have macros to switch it out for battle gear when I'm going to fight.

So far at my level I don't lose/gain as much CHR as I would have thought by switching to other subjobs. I compared BST/WHM to BST/DRK when I was level 30 and it was only 2 CHR less and I didn't even care because I gained 2 CHR at the time from upgrading my Opal Rings to Hope Rings. I guess subbing BRD won't really make much of a difference either.

cool, thank you victim. I was just wondering when i read your post, about how much +Chr do you have and about how much does the stuff cost? lvling WHM and BLM has kinda put a dent in my wallet and i'm scared of the kind of gil it would take also to lvl BST on the side... haven't broken 9k in weeks now :dead:

I have +13 chr worth of equipment. When I reached level 15 I bought a noble's ribbon for 20k, a bird whistle for something less than 5k, and a pair of opal rings for 2.5k each (+8 chr total). Later on I upgraded the opal rings to hope rings for about 20k each, and got my Mithra RSE and the shoes add +2 chr and the body armor adds +1 chr. The prices are probably different on your server, I know on my server the opal rings now cost about half as much as I originally paid and the hope rings used to go for 35k when I first checked them at the AH but went down to like 20k by the time I could afford it.

I wouldn't worry about being a Mithra. Just bring along more +chr gear (instead of using +dex gear like me Mithra have lots of that)

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the so-called lack of charisma that Mithra suffer from is only totally true once we're talking lvl 75. At the lower lvls, the difference is minimal. But as you go up, like lvl 10, 20, 30, 40, etc, you start getting less charisma than other races. It's probably about 1 less chr for every ten lvls or something, so by the time you've reached lvl 75, you have, I think it is; 8 less charisma compared to other races.

Again I might be wrong, but it's something like that. Anyway, point is, this 'deficit' is not even really apparent until 40-50s, by which time you'll have plenty of +chr gear anyway.

Plus, the BST AF armor has a ton of bonuses directly contributing to charm anyway.

Ultimately, any race really will do fine as a bst.

heh, yeah i checked a stat calculator earlier to compare Mithra CHR vs elvaan and at lvl 75 its only 8 or 9.. i forgot already.. oh well thank you for the help
