www.ff11.org has a video of a bard in action. Pretty much - you sing and when you're done singing, about 8 seconds or so - you can then attack. You don't sing the whole battle just one or two songs. You sing, the song's effect begins and then you're set, ready to do the next action you want to do.

That's a cool site, thanks. However, I did not see any clips labled as having a bard. Can you tell me the name of the clip that shows the bard in action?

Anyways, I think I understand the bard now. I thought the effects would stop once the singing stops. But you are saying that the singing lasts 8 seconds but than the effects still last longer after the singing is done, right? Can you tell me how long the effects last until I have to sing again?

Effects of song depends on your skill level. It also depends on the song you use. It is basically random. Plus as a bard you need to know which songs to use at what time.

As a bard this is what happens:

Start out singing HIT UP song and then also sing DEF UP song or ATK UP song. Then go to mages and sing ballad and sing DEF up or HP regean song. There are lots of songs that give elemental defense which is not needed in normal pts. Elemental songs are needed if fighting HNMs and such. Well back to the pt. Bard can go ahead and begin to fight. You as bard notice that an area attack has hit the fighters. Sing HP song. Sing HIT up song. Stop and disengage battle. Go to mages and sing HP up song and MP up song. If linked sing lullaby to put other monster to sleep. And depending on situation sing other stuff. Heres a little low down on the bard job.

More you use song the stronger it gets.

This is how I play my bard in beta...
Trigger Macro 1 or 2, battle combo or defense combo, 2 songs, all one bard can do alone, and then we fight, I do meager damage, fire off a few elemenetal def downs, requiem, and then go back to singing, ws, whatever.

It's actually a whole lot more simple then you're making it.

I've got a few questions concerning the songs. It sounds really newbish, but I've never even considered being a Bard til now.

                      1. How do you get Songs?
                      2. When you get songs, do you have to keep that instrument, or do you get to keep the song forever?

                      Thanks in advance!

                        1. They come in scrolls like the magic scroll, except they're for BRDs.
                        2. When you use the scroll you have that song forever. Each instrument has its special song that it goes with. Ex. a flute might boost the power of Ballard.
"From the void all things are born.
To the void all things return."

Thanks man. That's kinda embarrassing asking that. I'm sure you have your doubts about me being a Bard......
