  • Looking for BST Fomor Location

    Howdy.

I'm trying to track down the location(s) of any BST Fomors in Phomiuna Aqueducts -- I'm looking to get a drop off of them (the Ophiuchus Subligar). Somepage's mob listing shows them in the zone, however Allakhazam's does not.

Now I know they are also in Lufaise Meadows, but I'm not sure those ones will drop the subligar. Supposedly the ones in Sacrarium also drop, but I don't have access to that area yet.

The only place in Phomiuna Aqueducts I haven't checked yet is behind the iron gate that isn't used for mission 2-3, I'm going to try and take a group back there soon, but with all the true-sight mobs in the zone its really difficult to explore solo.

    Thanks for any help!

    Found It!

BST Fomor is on the 2nd map, at E-12. He's in a room with THF, DRG & NIN but they move around a lot and with patience you can make a clean pull. Other bats in room (Hell Bats) will link to the BST's, so be leary of that. Haven't seen any other BST, and I've covered about 70-80% of zone. BRD-types are plentlyful, I'll detail those below.

So far I think I've found every job now in the zone. For other jobs, here are locations:

MNK, SMN - Right at entrance

BST, THF, DRG, NIN - E-12 room

    DRK - D-9 Room

BLM, DRK, WAR - Unmarked on map, take ladder from D-9, and just around the bend. These three will *always* link each other so it will take minimum 2 full PT to take them out. So far it's the only BLM I've found.

PLD, BRD - L-4 (Take ladder at I-6 to parts off the map)

BRD, THF, RNG and several other types are in the libarary where you complete 2-3. Requires a key.

RDM - Hallway at E-8. Requires a key.

I know this doesn't cover every job. I just wanted to post some of the more out-of-the-way ones I found tonight. I'll try to make this comprenesive sometime in the future.

A bit off topic, but does anyone know what triggers the latent effect "Refresh" on the BST/BRD body armor? <.<

I was told that it activated whenever your MP is below 50. No way to confirm that until somebody gets it.

Doing 2-5 tonight, so I likely won't have time to finish the quest. If that doesn't happen for some reason, I'll go pick up the equip and check it out.

The latent trigger is going to decide if this is the best thing since sliced bread, or pure junk. It'd have to be something triggerable by both BRD and BST. If it's really MP<50, well I guess I can see some use for that, but, I'd never feel comfortable being under 50 mp in normal situations. Still, it's a virtual garuntee that you'd never be *under* 50 mp (at least not for long) so that would have some usefulness.

Edit: Still, I don't see a clear-cut better choice of body armor until Minstrel's Coat, or Errant. The harness has 1 more CHR than Justacourps (equal to Justa+1) and doesn't have the -str and -vit. It does have less def, but the lack of other negitive stats would seemingly make up for it. And its usable 8 levels sooner than Justacourps.

I just realized that I really haven't given any info about the BRD fomor yet. I've killed 3-4 BRDs, and to date they've always dropped only the Libra Subligar (BRD & RDM) which is used to get Cerise Doublet (Rare/Ex Accuracy +3, Attack +3) -- useful for skilling up I'm sure, and any Bards who fancy themselves as a melee ^^.

RDM fomors drop the Subligar that gives the +3 to most (if not all) of their magic skills.

I've heard that the latent effect on the Gaudy Harness is triggered by having your MP lower than fifty percent; it's likely that this effect remains for a set amount of time, rather than ending once your MP gets above fifty percent again.
              Ho-hum.

Well I can confirm that the latent effect kicks in when you have under 50MP (not under 50%). You regen 1mp per second until you have 49MP.

I don't see this as being massively useful, but again it does give you something for free, so in the right situation why not use it?

I did test being under 50% but not under 50MP. No refresh. It's possible there's another condition that could trigger it, but I personally feel that rather unlikely. I didn't have much time to really try anything else.

Going to grab my accuracy harness from this quest tomorrow, and then consider it "case closed."

Confirmed latent effect is in effect when mp is below 49. Refresh is 1 mp/sec until 49 mp.

Thanks. Might still be useful for BST in emergencies.
