In all honesty, Bards are fairly useful in the Dunes - perhaps not in our primary roles as buff support, but at that early of a level, there is a certain simple elegance to pulling out a sword and smacking the enemy upside the head with it! Bards don't lose any possible capacity as a useful DD until about 25 - 30, which is about the time when Ballad comes into play. They certainly don't *excel* at it, but they do remain useful.
So you'll still see invites in the Dunes - just realize that, like THF before 15, you're going to probably want to go that 'extra mile' and preform extra party services until you come into your prime. You're likely one of the few people with a subjob, and you've got experience under your belt. Don't be afraid to melee, back up heal, set up skillchains, and (heaven forbid) pull on occasion.
