  • Sha'ir Set Recipe

For those of you know, I have a Screenshot Thread over in the Fun section of FFXIOnline. I know many of you readers don't read that thread for whatever reasons, but from time to time... I post some helpful information. This latest post included the recipe for the new Sha'ir Bard Equipment. I posted this to reply to a high level bard that visits my thread often, but I thought other bards across all servers would benefit. The recipe information is 99.99% accurate, as the source that reported is a very credible source. However, as with anything, there is always a chance for error. I wonder how much that Cashmere cloth will be...

As for the Sha'ir set, there is already some pieces on sale. I told my Bard LS member last night. To be more specific, the leg & hands recipes are readily available on our server. The other recipes are known but the items have yet to be discovered. You can thank the patch for giving the new recipes. I read a Japanese website quite often and they've already figured which synthesis types are required for the Barone & Sha'ir sets (as well as many other crafts). For specific recipes however, they compiled as much data as they could. Oh and by the way, the Sha'ir Manteel Goldsmithing. The Shining Cloth rumor is false (so kudos to the dumbass that started a false rumor... this is why I don't believe anything until it is verified by a credible source. I don't even get involved in those "speculation" threads on any forum.) For those of you that are bards and are curious, here are the recipes for the known Sha'ir pieces if you want to try to craft them yourself.

Edit: They all use earth crystals. Happy crafting.

I would assume Earth, since that is the majority of the crystals that are used in Leather & Clothcraft synthing to create armors. As for goldsmithing, I would also assume fire or earth. I'll look into it for you.

These recipes were reported from a credible source and they've never been wrong before, so I believe these are the finalized recipes. As with anything on the Internet though, it is possible there could be typos or wrong components. Nevertheless, when I was trying to find the Igqira recipes (BLM Armor), it was 100% accurate. Take what I post with a grain of salt. However, I know that the required synthesis is 100% accurate, because it was reported as such by several different Japanese websites.

As for the Hippogryph feathers... I've seen one... and only one drop while up at Riverne. I'm afraid now that these recipes are published, the price for them will skyrocket (much like the Dragon Claw for the Igqira Weskit). The Dragon Claw (before Promathia) sold for only 40K on my server, as it was used in only 1 recipe. The price for the claw right now is 700K. So this could also be good farming opportunities for us that have access to these areas. We all know that the IGE gilfarmers are killing the farming economy and they do not care much for missions. So it may take them a while to get up there and start grabbing the hippogryphs before they do.

I have been PM'd a bit since I have posted this recipe for the Barone recipe (Dragoon/Warrior armor.) So those of you who want this or want to tell a friend, here is the link: Barone Set

It has come to my attention that Somepage also has these recipes. I apologize for the "double information". I do not go to Somepage, so I didn't know they were there. I regularly visit a Japanese Recipe Database as well as a few other Japanese FFXI dedicated websites. My apologies for redundant information. I assume that Somepage posted them around the same time I did because there was no mention of it before on any forum? Oh well, sorries again.

Here's something funny. My server is Kujata.

                  -------------------------

                  The Hands go for 90k
                  The head goes for 600k
                  The hjippo feather is 500k

Given the hand piece requires more material and craft, it's far cheaper than the hand. The hand and head, as u can see shares the same material. Is there something wrong w/ this picture? Feather for 500k while hand piece is 90k? huh?

Can anyone disclose where the Hippogryph feather can be found? Thanks.

Feather is not, after all, needed for Sha'ir/Sheikh Gages. That's why. As for where to get them, a Hippogryph Feather drops off Hippogryphs, and you can find those in lovely level-capped Riverne (B01 I think, could be wrong since I haven't gotten there yet).

I know the recepie tree for the Cashmere cloth is as follows:

                        Clothcraft (93)
                        Crystal: Lightning
                        Ingredients: Cashmere Wool x2
                        Result: Cashmere Thread

                        Clothcraft (95)
                        Crystal: Earth
                        Ingredients: Cashmere Thread x3
                        Result: Cashmere Cloth

But where do the Cashmere Wools come from? I've checked several places but have yet to see. On Lakshmi, Cashmere Cloth shows up on Jueno auction with no sales history, and there have never been any Cashmere Threads or Cashmere Wools. I've yet to see anyone in the armor, and it's not even listed in any auctions.

Rumor has it that Cashmere Cloth (at least you don't have to start from wool) drops from Vrtra. Emphasis on rumor. I have yet to see a screenshot with proof. Neither the BRD JSE body nor anything made of Cashmere (Wool, Thread, or Cloth) have yet to appear on Quetzalcoatl's AH.

I've heard rumor that the cloth comes from Vrtra or Jormungand .. but most of the rumors I've heard are that it's from a CoP area. That's the only reason I give more credibility to Jormungand than Vrtra.

Still, these recepies tree for the Cashmere cloth are new information to me. This could open up the path for multiple ways to craft the JSE body.

Actually what I heard was that the wool is what drops from the HNM, and that needs desythned first before the "real" synthysis can be attempted. But for now I'm treating everything as rumor because there simply is no credible information as to the true source(s) for the cloth.

The cloth, nor the body piece itself, has yet to appear on Bismarck's AH listing. From what I've read, it seems about half the servers have seen one of the other; but I'm pretty sure none have ever been sold.

Vil, are you suggeting the hands receipe is incorrect as stated above? It makes sense w/o the feather, tat's y the hands are so cheap. The head piece is going for 500-600 right now. As for legs and feet, about 1 mil each. Does tat sound reasonable?
