  • Bard AF

Hi can someone who has all the Bard AF peices post where and how you get them? I got lucky in CN's last night had a pretty knowledgeable group, they got the coffer key for me and told me where the coffer spawns, eventually it spawned and I got the hat. So now I have the knife, slippers and hat. I saw from another website that the body piece is a quest where you have to kill an NM.

    What about the other pieces?

Was not bad 3 NM's spawn but if you kill the main one (Yim something) the other two will despawn, u can fight one at a time. I had a lv 75 monk, and he prettyy much owned it since monks do good damage against the undead.

I'm going to copy a post a made a while ago on a different message board. Hope this helps!

Here's a rough guide from memory:

lv 40 AF Dagger - Start Quest in Merry Minstrel. Go to Ranguemont Pass, cast sneak on yourself and BarWatera on party, spawn NM Tross at ??? Investigate ??? when killed to get the dagger + Cutscene.

At level 50, start AF2 in Merry Minstrel.

You should then start the Coffer AF quests in Upper Jeuno Armor Shop (a Galka gives the quest).

Level 52 AF Shoes - Buy Holy Water from AH and show it to Mithra behind counter in Merry Minstrel. She should mention a Bard's Tomb inside The Eldieme Necropolis. Enter Eldieme with an alliance of at least 12 level 55+ from the Beaudine Glacier Entrance and head to the room with Sarcophoguses (sp?). Kill out the Haunts, and spawn the NM's by trading the Holy Water. Make sure you have Sneak cast and pull the NMs out one at a time using Cure. Make sure your party stays FAR UP THE STAIRS so the other NMs don't aggro to low HP. When dead, check the sarcophogus again to get a cutscene and key item ring. Show the ring to one of the NPCs in Merry Minstrel and you get the AF boots.

Lv 54 AF Hat - Find Nest Coffer Key in Crawlers Nest. Open Coffer and you will get the Hat directly from the coffer. Make sure you properly activated the quest first (from Galka in UpJeuno) before opening the coffer.

Lv 56 AF Pants - Find Oztroja Coffer Key and find the Coffer in Castle Oztroja. Tons of THF camp this coffer for Astral Rings so I suggest you bring some friends to help you out.

Lv 58 AF Body Piece - Must complete AF2 (the Shoes). Start Quest by talking to Old Man near entrance to Qufim. He talks about the ring you found from the Sarcophogus and tells you to purify it. Head to Xaracabrad and bury the ring in the snow (I forget the coords, look it up online). Wait 24 hours, then get the ring again. Take the Ring back to the guy in Qufim, then head to SanDOria and show it to the guy in the Garden in the Castle. You get a cutscene (don't want to spoil it) and need to bring the ring to the altar in Monastic Cavern (it's in Davoi). Clearing the way to the Altar is a real pain, especially since a NM Orcish Warlord sits right next to it. I highly recommend a party of 12 level 58+ for this AF. Kill all the nearby Orcs + the Warlord NM, spawn the Bugaboo, and kill it. Check the altar again for a very brief cutscene and you're done here. Return to the guy in SanDOria castle and you get the AF Body Piece.

Lv 60 AF Gloves - I haven't done this yet but from what I've read: Get Castle Zvahl Baileys Coffer Key, Open Baileys Coffer. You get a Key Item Old Gauntlet. Activate the Dark Spark Quest in Jeuno (you need to talk to the Galka in UpJeuno, then a Tenshodo Member for a key, and lastly check the Box near the AH in PortJeuno), then go to Castle Zvahl Baileys and kill Dark Spark. Check the torch to get the flame, and return to the Box in PortJeuno to get your gloves.

So the three coffer keys you will need are Crawlers Nest, Castle Oztroja, and Castle Zvahl Baileys.

Yeah, bard AF's stats don't look all that fantastic, but I think the armor itself looks pretty neat (even if a little hobo-ish) and I will be the first to brag that I got my poufy hat ^^

Yeah, but what's more cool then a mushroom, poofy hat, and some poofy pants, and a shirt that looks like it was patched together by an old lady, using fabric torn off of dead hobo's carcasses?

At first glance, the Bard AF has horrible stats compared to some other classes AF.

One of the reasons is that Bard doesn't have any job abilities. Most AF is good because of things like "Enhances Steal Success Rate" or "Enhances Sharpshot Effect"

However, Bard AF does have a pretty decent Defence, and the +Singing, +String, and +Wind skills make a bigger difference than most people normally think.

Overall, while not *as* good as most other AF, Bard AF still gives a decent boost in performance. Plus it looks cool, which is basically what bards do

So...just to clarify, you only needed a lvl 75 monk to help you with this quest?
