War is a DD

DRK is a DD

DRK does amazing damage with Spinning Slash closing L3..

WAR does amazing damage with Raging Rush.

WAR is damage plain and simple, no getting around it.
Its the way we DD and its the way we tank.

DRKs are DD aswell, but they work more for the group than for themselves unlike WAR.
DRKs enfeeble with Ab-Spells, Stun, and are ussually SC "b*tches" since they end up using crappy WSs (DRK WS suck anyway up to 60) to make better SCs.
DRK is not just about numbers like a lot of people think, there a lot of other things a DRK has to do to be successful at their job.

With WAR, our numbers are the only things we have, but DRKs are very situational, thus the reson so many sub THF 60+

And by looking at your profile thingy you are in the 30s where WAR absolutly rules DD, not fair to comapire Sneak Attack+Sturmwind with Power Slash (or some other crappy WS they have :p)

WARs + DRKs go perfectly in PTs.

Up to 66, WARs do the most. However, DRKs have great WSs to start chains for WARs, and also have the absorb line to make them a great support damage dealer ( Absorb Agi and Vit).

66+, when level 3 skillchains are the big deal, WAR becomes opsolete. Our only strong WS, Steel Cyclone, is theworse element to chain with (Distortion). However, with Mistral Axe, we are become the support damage dealer to DRK. Utusemi, Warcy, and provoke is helps.

Yay, another e-pissing contest. /sigh

At DRK51 I've partied with a number of WARs. Not many since Lv.37, but I've still partied with a few WARs in the mid-40's. The last one was Lv.49 as I tried to catch up with my static party.

Right up to that point I'd never come across a WAR that could outdamage me. I sub'd WAR from 1-Lv.29, then THF from Lv.30 to Lv.49. I also gave up using Great Sword at Lv.34, and switched to Scythe full time. I've never seen a WAR SA+Weapon Skill, but I haven't seen a WAR I've partied with even come close to out damaging me. Perhaps with Great Sword those WARs had a better chance.

So from my experience, I would say DRK, well over WAR. However a number of arguments could be stated. I'm a DRK so I'm biased. WARs had crappy gear, I had really good gear, but from my vantage point, I actually said at one point, if I found a WAR that could out damage me I'd retire as DRK.

Now I hear you guys talk, and now I think "I'm glad I never ran into one of those WARs they're talking about!" lol

SA+Sturmwind can make some beautiful numbers. Rampage can also put up some damn nice numbers. Best i've seen a dark do pre-60 on IT xp mobs was a 500 Souleater+Vorpal Scythe. I've seen rampage and SA Sturmwind do that many times.

At low lvls war's have a huge advantage over other melee. They are the only class with double attack and defender before 50. They are also the only class with zerk before 30. This makes war arguably better then alot of classes at early lvls.

Later in the game War isnt the dominate attacker it is in lower lvls. At 50 alot of wars best ablities are now avaliable in sj form, which evens the playing feild alot. However, I doubt you'll ever find yourself making significantly more exp/hour because you have War or Drk in your pt. (Unless having a Drk or War causes a skill chain problem)
