That was probably on Bourel Hound then. I severly doubt any class can pull off 5k damage on an exp mob.

Bull, you aren't gonna convince me that the 1000 MB damage wasn't at least 90% possible because of my SATA'd Spinning Slash at the end. If we're gonna go that route then nobody really should get their damage counted in an exp party because the whole fight is a team effort.

And just to add onto my prior point.

I can go /THF, use Steel Cyclone, and match Spinning Splash w/o Soul Eater. Not only that, but I would be getting TP faster since I'm using my A+ weapon along with an ability that gives me a shit-load of ACC, so no longer having to wait until 150-200 TP for a DRK (even with more ACC from equipment then me) to catch up. This would more then double the damage I do.

I can go /NIN, use Mistral Axe, and have the PARTY run more effiecently.

Much like how WAR gives up more individual damage for the party, I expect the DRK to do the same and use the Absorb-series.

I voted for Brd though.. they do damage to my ears with their repetitive flutes and occasional harp. I have to turn down the sound and play some other music. Kidding! Brds are alright. ^^

Hm, well I'm not these levels yet, so I don't really have anything too concrete to offer.

From all the movies, forum posts, and a tiny bit of first hand witnessing I believe they're broken into 3 catagories, highest damage number, highest Weapon Skill damage, and highest damage over time. Each one's important in its own way, but can be sorta put altogether for an overall estimate.

Like Highest number's would probably be( as in, in a single strike)
Black Mage: Seen too many high level magic bursts in movies to count this out.
Summoner: Really, Summoner's are pretty freightening in some cases.
Ranger: The highest single hit melee damage.

Highest Weapon Skill damage:
Dark Knight: Can't deny that. Extremely high WS damage as well as good dot, but thats another catagory.
Ranger: Same deal. They're walking laser cannons.
Thief: Dark Knights tend to take the spotlight, but from what I've seen Thieves can really keep up with they're sata later dagger weapon skills, sometimes surpass, sometimes on par.
Warrior: They're pretty freightening maxed out. They're high WS damage depends on the mob, it can be below average, or way above average. Very solid melee.

Highest Dot, or damage over time( like regular melee)
Monk: Undisputed master of acumulated spam damage. Great WS's that come out fast to boot.
Ninja: If Dual Wield meets its ultimate speed potential, it pretty much makes the Ninja attack almost never endingly with medium range one handed weapons. Depending on if the Ninja uses a bit of atk gear or haste gear in place of some evasion, a lotta people say its on par, if not sometimes surpassing that of Monk's spam damage (Though definitely not on bones) They're WS's are just weak in comparsion to everyone else's.

Gryff brought up Shuriken, its not too common but if someone went total accuracy/ranged attack instead of haste/attack/str, and could synth a massive amount of Shuriken then yeah, then they rank considerably higher. Fast melee+The most damaging as well as fastest ranged weapons in the game. If only they were more reliable on a regular basis..
Warrior: As said ,its a very well balanced melee. Weither its a 2H weapon or dual wielding axes or something 1h, they deal very solid hits with they're regular melee. Combine with they're great WS prowess and they really are demons of war.

Not to say there's instances where a Dark Knight's dot can match up to either of these, or a Monk's WS can surpass any of the high WS damager's, or any exceptions but from what I've gathered this all tends to be how it is.

Under the assumption that everyone has the best gear possible and is level 75... NIN. The high level shuriken(lvl 72 I believe) can easily out damage that 1k damage SMN ability every minute. Because every 2-3 seconds the NIN can throw one doing a bit less than a DRKs scythe. So lets say at even 5 seconds for every throw... That's 12 Shuriken a NIN can throw a minute easily hitting 1k. Plus I'm saying 5 seconds just to round it up, it'd be even more damage than that =x. Plus they're hitting with their katana's or considering we're under the assumption of best gear possible, a Kraken club in their second hand. Meaning Blade:Ku many a time(Not necissarily their best ws, I wouldn't know, but I just think it looks kickass >_>).

So yea I think NIN take the cake. Unfortunately in realistic terms a NIN could never obtain enough of those high level Shuriken in an exp party to use constantly. Not impossable, but very improbable.

(But when you consider it, Bard adds the most damage to all other clases, so you can consider them to be up there with RDM as the class that causes the most damage to be inflicted. Go MP regen!)

Whether it's damage over time, or in an instant, nothing can compare to the raw damage of Rangers. I mean, why shouldn't they have right to the title of most damage, they're out there paying for each hit whether they miss or hit.

With that said, i voted for BRD :spin: ok i didn't... but with my setup i'm out there doing some sick damage on goobbues =\
