Ok, Im a rabid dragoon, its my favorite job in all the past final fantasy games that had it. I recently got 30, gotmy dragoon job, and am enjoying it more then any job I have yet too play. But then my link shell tells me about teh +6 To Store Tp pants, and how much the AF Gloves improve rice balls, now my fanboy side and power gamer side are at war, Im convinced that dragoon is neater, but I know that samurai is better. What should I pick?

if you want to play dragon you have to know its a broken job and most people will not invite you i just want you to know that so you wont complain about how the job is broken and invite rate sux at higher lv
i reccommand you play sam
afterall play the job you love dont play job x cuz its better than job y
i was lucky that i played DRK ( the job i love) its the strongest melee at higher lv ( even thought when i first started playing the game it was not
but our finals ws is just overpowered XD)

heh you must have not partied with a good monk post 50's. anyways samurai is probably a better choice cause like DarkEvil said drg is brokenk. If you ask an experienced drg they will probably just complain and tell you not to bother with the job. it might seem like a samurai might do less dmg than a drg at first glance but a good samurai who cooridinates multiple skillchains with members can do more over dmg with burst. samurai would definatly be less fustrating and alot more fun than going drg all the way.74 monk , 50 nin ,37 warrior, 30 thief, 24 sam

Ever since the update, i haven't heard much Dragoons complaining. In fact, alot more dragoons have popped out of nowhere on my server. With all those new gears geared towards enhancing Jump accuracy and TP gain per jump, i couldn' tpossibly believe Drgs still have a problem except "certain" weaker weaponskills high end.
Some speculations have been made though. Drgs have highest CHR out of all DDs. Perhaps their weaponskills can be greatly enhanced if some bought alot of CHR+ gear and switched macroed it right before a ws? I dunno all speculation:spin:

lol dont let them lie to you, drg isnt broken....at lvl 60 i still hit more accurately and just as hard as any drk...mnk only good on bones...sam is good but my parsers show me doing more dmg...but then again im decked out....they must be idiots to say its broken... and really, any person that will bitch about a job not being efficeint is truly a geek...just play the game, and do what you want to in it...but pty invites will suck, i dont speak from personal experiance on that one...i have no problem getting ptys...but if you gonna be drg, deck it out...like i did

Drg dot damage is pretty high, but not quite as high as monk with similarly decked out gear, is probably the worst secondary tank, and the WS are only so-so.
Lacking in areas, but really not too bad as far as damage is concerned.
Drg is a perfectly fine job for exp PT, but on nm... they don't really have anything special to contribute to the PT or alliance other than damage (which makes them replacable), except of course on flying nm. Then again, people would just prefer rng for that, like they do for most everything.
Sam seems like a weak war in the begining but soon you start finding that a PT which can make use of the fast TP gain will become very effective in killing--moreso than drg's more selfish abilities do.
And just to state the obvious, invite rates for all melees except tanks will suck, and moreso for drg and thf.

i loved drg from 49-60 and i meet alot of friends drgs from 49-60 cuz i made alot of pts
and they always complain to me about the job so i know what im talking about

you have to know good samuri can always outdamage any DRK even at lv +66 with the new ws
sam shine if the tank can skillchain ( like war or nin tank) and the another melee is rng/sam (they gain tp almost as fast as sam lol) and there must be blm in the pt and rdm (double MB) and if there is smn also then you can do 3xMB
then with this pt setup im sure sam > drk
and mnk strong even vs none bone pts so dont say its strong vs bones only >.>

the people behind the drg are nice....just ..no one likes the job...
i haven't been able to play with drgs with the new updates...so i dont know if drg's impulsive drive has improve in dmg ...

Both jobs have their own ups and downs. It's merely all about what you want to do. I hear DRG's also get +tp per jump pants, but I've not actually seen these. Besides, are the pants for either job even made yet? Go with what flows. Try them both out for a bit and see how they are. Neither job is uber, neither job really sucks. Each has their own crap to deal with. And I'm sure both jobs can relate when you have to farm a load of stuff. For example, Sniper Rings... Lifebelt... Valkrie's mask... Both my 53 SAM friend and I feel the pain when we have to farm for gear.34 WAR, 11 RNG, 18 MNK, 13 WHM, 31 SAM, 10 NIN, 63 DRG, 15 PLD, 11 THF, 25 RDM

the numbers might not be completely right but this is the basics about it I think all 3 jobs is even in damage its just that people forget that the wyvern is there too and that drg have much better acc then a drk.
But drks monstrous ws make them as good as other dds.
Just because drg doesnt do much dmg at once doesnt mean they dont do good damage. Its just that people cant see it. The same applies to MNK, their DOT is also high.
But in the end all DD do about same damage.
If you want some help decide here is some help.
DRG is a skillchain starter and doesnt work good as ender.
SAM can start and close almost ay SC their job is to make skillchains
DRK is at later lvls the best skillchain closer
THF is the best SC closer from 1-65 and still very good after that.

I know plenty of people that are fine with the job it's all on how the person acts and how good they are at their job. Btw it was Wheeling Thrust that was enhanced and I heard it went from doing about 200-300 to about 400-700 (if you catch a double hit)Originally posted by Lostbeatz

and btw what someone above said is very true, a whm in my pt had a parser log and it was for about every 6k damage I did my wyvern did 2k, which imo is pretty impressive, he even said my wyvern outdamaged the rdm and pld combined on some fights:p, also something I find pretty nice 50+, say we have a nin tank and a thf, a drg can use (suggesting that hes subbing an up to date war) Defender then voke the mob as the thf does SATA onto the nin, and if the thf has TP SATA VB, and then you can just lose it with high jump, and if that doesnt work, use super jump[Blm 75] [Mnk 72] [Drg 64] [Brd 41] [War 37] [Whm 37] [Rdm 37] [Sam 28] [Smn 26] [Thf 25] [Blu 12] [Nin 10] [Pld 9] [Bst 8] [Rng 8] [Pup 3] [Cor 1] [Drk 1] Rank 10 San D'oria
