Someone posted something about BST being relatively worthless if they're in an area without EM or DC mobs to charm; that's relatively untrue, and it's only really a factor at levels below 23. After which, we get Jug Pet's; even then, however, it's not that big of a deal at 22 and below, as we can stand in as damage dealers or tanks. I will, however, concede that any BST that doesn't use pets in a party, jug or otherwise, is gimping the party.

Problem is that I notice alot of NA players really dont have a good grasp of game dynamisc in regards to playing this game.
They make the most assinine assumptions about classes.
Take this for example I have two friends in my LS that are leveling summoner along with me.
I've been playing summoner red mage since last year.
Both of them are summoner/White mages.
they both have dog.
But I noticed that They complained about not getting PT invites without fenrir.
Both did the static thing for awhile.. But as they got stronger there statics didnt want them so much without the dog.
Yet I was still able to beat out them and SMN/whm's to Pts alot.
The one thing I heard from both was that I'm famous and popular . Fame and popularity means nothing in my book, as i still didnt have the dog. What made me so different?
I gave it a shot one day , Put my flag to J/E.
first tell from random NA guy was ..
/tell triel Hi PT?
/Me Hello Sure..one thing however I am summoner not whm okay?
/tell triel okay ..BTW do you have fenrir?
/me no
He didnt invite or send tell after that.
next tell from JP guy
/tell triel konnitiwa ,korega PT ni ikimasenka?
/me Hai arigatou desu, demo fenrir wo arimasen, iidesuka?
/tell hai yorosikuonegaishimasu,sasoimasu
/me hai
Na guy still at jueno looking for more members..
I wouldnt be the level I am if i had the issues Pting as my friends did. But I noticed they tried for mainly NA PTs, which is okay .
When they got JP pts they never were main healers nor complained about not having dog.
I mention all that because It seems people still have no idea what does what as far as classes go. And go after this "IDEAL" that they got from west bubbleF#ck.
BTW . Bad summoners are main healers, avg summoners only do blink/stone,good summoners use all above and can pull.
Exceptional summoners = a bored whm with no one to heal. It's Official Promathia Hates me....

Once again, THF is a support Class which can do major Damage every minute. He can do the damage w/o giving the main healer a headache (TA required
) since he get's no hit or one while pulling. But even for this one Regen is enough or he has a casted utsu.

Play well
After putting the time into farming, I do pretty well for a THF. Consider this, with RDM as my sub, I usually do the second or third most damage (third if one party member is BLM, second if no BLM). What most theives don't realize is how important +STR is to them. They don't hit hard, but they do hit often. +STR helps keep a higher average damage.
On topic, I'd have to say I seldom invite BRD since I never see them LFP. And I usually avoid THF since two isn't a good idea, and most don't do their job well anyway. (Although a Galka THF recently put me to shame building up Boost in between fights for a huge SA)4 out of 3 people have a problem with fractions. . .

I dislike inviting thiefs into my PTs starting around 55 when the first provoker has to take at least 3 hits before the thf trick onto the pld/nin at the start. thfs do piss poor damage aside from sa/ta and a good pld never needs sa/ta at start so why invite them?

wow yall must have pted with some pretty sucky THF's....Most memorable WoW vent convos on Burning Legion:
"Dude...I just wrote a sonnet, about taking a dump." - Kronos (2006)
"Guys, I just set my oven on fire by trying to cook ramen in it, and broke the fire alarm with a frying pan. I think I'm in trouble." - Brawny (2006)
"But Hisdon, why wouldn't you want The Unblockable Shield - wait a minute..." - Sasukekun (2005)

Well the thing with thieves is, I think they can potentially do good damage, assuming they swap out all the dex/agi crap they wear for +acc, +str and +atk. But that would entail carrying around 2 complete sets of equipment. Very few NA players will be willing to shell out that kind of cash. Optimal SATA equipment at level 37 is a little over a million gil on my server, and it just gets worse the higher you level up, And now you have to pile on probably about a million and a half (granted, a million of that is sniper rings but you see my point) to do good damage when you're not doing SATA. Most people don't have that kind of cash flow, and even if they did, who wants to have 4 macros for equipment swaps (maybe more when you get AF).
So most thieves (rightfully) go for the SATA boosting stuff, but that doesn't help a whole lot in the damage department. Add in the fact that most thieves sub nin, forfeiting berserk, and their DoT starts to get really low.
I was really impressed with triple attack a week ago or so though, first time I'd partied with a thief in ages and he was swinging like a madman. If I were going to level up another job after monk, thief would be it, lame or not.

Thieves do very good damage without str/attack/acc gear as is, I've had a few outdo me pre-sidewinder in the damage department. (And still can if I whiff
)
If they get that second set of gear for just general beatdown, or only a partial set their damage goes somewhere from "very good" to "outstanding."

I never formed PTs and to be honest heres how my view was if i was going to.
These comments are 65+ based~
Before 65 yeah id group a Dragoon~
I wouldnt invite dragoons well, because I like to level as fast as possible and sadly, dragoons well you know the deal, I dont want to go into it, they need to be fixed or given a purpose in this game that is all.
Beastmaster on the otherhand, they kick ass if you get one that knows what hes doing. The thing is, beastmasters are rarely seekin PTs so its hard to find one =/

Oh no boo hoo, tears for you. You dont have the most optimal PT setup ever! So you cant make 123123142345 XP and hour and get to lvl 75 with your underleveled subjob, and still be rank 2. Jesus christ people you can make a DECENT and FUN PT with nearly ANY job in the game. And dont tell me shit like, "oh STFU n00b your only lvl 43 and I'm lvl awesome!" Because I know this game and i know the PEOPLE who play this game. Every job can make it to 75, ive seen them all, its the player that makes it happen not the job. If youre too lazy to PT with someone cause u cant just stand there and hit your heal macro when you feel like it then you dont deserve to be a PT leader at all.
I give everyone the benefit of the doubt if im making a PT. If they dont work out, if everyone is like damn man so and so really is bringing us down then i deal with it and replace them (politley if possible, no need to be a dick about booting people). If the WHM decides that he needs to skill-up his club, or his shield skill is too low. I love thieves and i think we get the worst rap, based soley on ignorance of what we can do alone. But I have seen some piss poor thieves before. SATA off the WHM cause "He was there, and the timer was up". These are times when you you consider getting rid of someone, but writing them off before youve even tried it is just ignorant.
Some generalizations can be made and of course not ALL PT setups will be optimal, but if you have a problem with that than that's fine I didn't want to be in your PT anyway.
The goal of the game is teamwork and fun, but somehow that nasty side of human nature has to seep in. Give that NIN/RNG a try for a DD slot youll be surprised, or how about a SMN without Fenrir ::GASP::
WTF do you n00bs think SMNs did before SE released Fenrir a few months back?
Do your damn job and as long as your surround yourself with good people, who do their jobs right ANYTHING can work. Even stuck up Spikey Blonde haired Elvaan DRKs

not to turn this into a PLD vs NIN thread, but being a PLD, I can honestly say that PTs with a PLD tank, on average, will get less exp than a PT with a NIN tank. This is because with a NIN tank there is less down time. Sure there is a possibility that the NIN dies, but if he doesn't, your going to get more exp/hr than the PLD PT... Not only that, thanks to some new +enimity equipment, a well equipped and smart NIN will have no problem keeping hate. A PLD has all this +enimity stuff, but in the end its "too much". Theres no point of having 120398109238 hate when all you need is 1000...
post level 50, my best PT was only netting about 5.5k/hr, and this was with a PLD, SAM, MNK, BRD, WHM, BLM ... The BLM was JP so I wasn't paying attention to see if he was nuking fast or slow. But I believe the clincher was that the SAM and MNK were both rank 10, had the BEST possible equipment (yes scrop harness, amemet+1, kote ... /droll)... and even in this situation, we could only get 5.5k/hr... thats sad....
I can only see a PLD PT making in the 7-8k/hr area with a PT setup like this:
PLD, RNG, RNG, RNG, BLM, RDM with the RNGs spamming arrows/sidewinder as fast as possible
or if fighting skeletons
PLD, MNK, MNK, THF (for light renkei), WHM, RDM
I'd like to hear from someone who has gotten 7-8k/hr with a PLD tank :dead:
