If they are asexual, then all it takes to get a race started is 1 Galka, right?
Kinda like if you cut off the legs of a starfish and throw them all back into the ocean, they will all become the same starfish. (its call regeneration/cloneing)
AKA Galka's have both organs, im guessing they lay eggs or something along those lines.
Heres a thought for you. So if she only cryed 5 tears, one for each of the races, how did all the races start? it takes two to start a race.
also its a game so STFU and play it.
P.S. : there are male Mithra's, they are just in such low numebr they stay at home and make more mithra. Most of the probally only shoot off the X chromosome(sp). (Human reproducing was implemented in this post)

One of my JP friends told me that something was lost in the translation when the game was ported over to NA. From what I remember, the JP version of the game describes Galkas like this:
Galkas are all male (not genderless, as the NA manual tries to suggest). Furthermore, it's only theorized that the Galkas reincarnate. None of the other races know for sure how exactly Galkas reproduce.
If you ask me, SE was thinking way too hard when they tried to explain why you can only pick male Galkas. They should've just taken a page from the Mithra's single-gender explanation (i.e. female Galkas are so rare that they never venture outside their homes) and just left it at that.

Originally posted by Frumply I think the biggest gripe in this situation is the fact that galkas, while being asexual, cannot wear wedding dresses. Sure, asexual would be "neither male or female," but damn, that choice must have put many galks to tears!
They'll get into real trouble if they ever implement tuxedoes and allow galks to wear them; that would imply that S-E thinks of galks as more hermaphodites than asexual, and will have to allow galks to wear both tuxes and wedding dresses.
Actually reincarnation means the slate is clean again:
Just as if you were born again. Notice all babies have little memory of past. However, they probably might but forget it all by time talking age I guess.
Rebirth of the soul in a new body is reincarnation: no where does it say you keep memories.
Though it would be strange if due to hypnotism or something they got back blocked memories of Elvaan life lol

I dont really bother with the how do Galkas reproduce etc etc. When I was introduced to the game. I was told there are only female Mithra and male Galka.
Male Mithra and female Galka are just unavailable to play due to game story reasons.
The game say nothing about Galkas reproducing through reincarnation or Male mithras. I hate how they decided to say the most masculine race in the game is asexual. I'm pretty sure Galkas and Mithras were intended to be intended to be one race at one point. That reincarnation crap and stuff about male Mithras was just a bullshit reason stuck in the manual. They didn't even try to explain the "form of reincarnation".
Can somebody post the WHERE, WHEN, WHO (to talk to) concerning Male Mithras and Galka reincarnation?
I would like to talk to the NPC that actualy explain these 'facts' about these races. Where do they say Male Mithras are few, where do they explain the thing about Galkas?
Stupid pathetic geeky n00bs! Did they teach you nothing in n00b school?
Let me explain;
"The Birds and the Bee's"
When a Galka and another Galka love each other very much, and they wont to express that love. they call 555-IWANTABABY
and 9 months later a hulking baby galka is dropped down the moogle chimney. (Free Delivery if it takes over 9 months)
I've heard that a Galka must "voluntarily" reincarnate, or in other words, they must be alive to perform this reincarnation ritual.
How they supposedly do it is that they shed their body much like a snake sheds his skin, only revealing the spirit to the rest of the world. Over time the spirit produces a new husk for them to control.
It must be initiated by the Galka in order for it to occur, if he dies, so does the spirit inside of it...
But that's a rumor though, don't know how true it is...
I ain't no flapjack!
60 SAM, 44 MNK, 30 WAR, 15 THF, 10 NIN, 8 WHM, 7 BLM, 6 BRD, 6 RNG, 6 DRK, 3 DRG
Later on in the game, i do remember a quest scene where an older larger galka said something to a child galka like "Sire, you've come back to us!" and the kid was talking like a former galkan leader or something...
So its obviously some form of reincarnation, even if the details are hazy. Personally, I thought they reproduced like starfish O.o but then... if they did that there should be lots more of them, so its logical to say that the reincarnation doesn't happen all the time.
..and I also remember reading somewhere that the mithra were driven off their homeland (not Elshimo) by beastmen, where the majority of the male population died/remained, and that the few males they took with them are kept safe from harm for breeding purposes. Maybe the chromasomes for giving birth to males are just on a much lower scale than females, that or they're sending males that are born back to the homeland to help win it back or something....
I bet that when they do implement male mithra NPCs they're gonna look kinda like lions with the mane and all... (Thundercats!)
iv seen some laid eggs in crawlers nest
Yeah um... being that thats the Crawlers NEST, i think those are crawler eggs...
