Is that so? Hmm well you can buy for $10 the Euro-Talk for Japanese. That'll give you some basic words and phrases and it shows it in the english translate - Hiragana/Katakana - romanji format. Can just about find it at any store just look threw the cheap $10 CD Programs section.

Other then that an ok site I've seen that will give you romanji translates is:

    Free Dictionary

Most the other I have are a bit more confusing to use and don't always show the romanji translate usually just the hiragana/katana translate.

    EDIT:
I would suggest though that you look at a class or something that can give you some guidence otherwise you'll most likely end-up translating a word wrong like thinking "Ichigo" means 15 or something crazy like that when it means "Strawberry".

The problem with a translation program is that there's always more than one specific meaning to a word, even an entire sentence, and a computer isn't smart enough to infer the context. Try translating a random japanese page in babelfish, and see what kind of mess it spits out.

Your best option would be to take a japanese class. I took a non-credit course at a community college, and even that was enough to teach me the very basics, like reading hiragana and katakana.
