  • Help on Static Party.

I've had some controversy over what to do and decided to post it here and look for your help. One setup was

    BRD/WHM
    WHM/BLM
    RDM/WHM
    RNG/NIN
    PLD/WAR
    DRK/WAR

This was the initial setup, but people said that there is no reason to have BRD, WHM, RDM, and PLD all together because none of them do a lot of damage. Then another group stated that Nin did crap damage and the only real damage dealer was the DRK, what do you think? Would it be feasible to drop one of the mages for a damage dealer? And if so, which one?

Edit: I talked to the members of the party I'm setting up the the NIN has decided to go RNG/NIN for more damage. But still, is that good or should be get rid of a mage? Or maybe add a BLM?

IMO opinion you should drop the RDM and pickup a BLM. You have the support class already with the Brd so you don't need another one of those. What you will need is a BLM to drop Magic Burst and nuke monsters later in the game.

In my opinion the perfect party setup is as follows:

1 Tank class: Pld/War or Nin/War. I prefer PLD/War. I believe they hold hate better and do the job better then Nin/War.

1 Support class: This is as far as I am concerned THE MOST IMPORANT MEMBER OF YOUR PARTY. Without the Support class it's tough to do anything. Brd/Whm or Rdm/Whm. I prefer Brd/Whm because they can support all of the teammate's with there songs as apposed to the Rdm/Whm just supporting the Whm/Blm and maybe the Tank. I just think Brd/Whm fills the slot way better then the Rdm/Whm

1 Whm/Blm: We all know what they do.

2 Damage dealer's. Ranger/Nin and Drk/War is my prefered combo. I think they chain nicely and with the right equipment will have no problem setting up Skillchains almost every fight. The dual physical damage these 2 heavey hitter will be doing will be the #2 form of damage to the Mob, second only to the BLM's Magic Burst and nukes.

1 Blm/Whm: Your nuker. This guys job is to destroy the enemy and gimp it. His main purpose is to rock the Mob with a Magic Burst that your Drk/War and Rng/Nin will setup. Later in the game your melee isn't going to have the effect it did in the earlier levels. Your gonna need a Blm to drop bombs on them.

You also have to take into consideration many thing when making a static party. One thing is that against certain Mobs your Drk and your Rng aren't going to do so well. If your leveling up off of Skeletons then your Rng is going to be more of a pain then a help. Whether or not you chose to work around this up to you guys. You may wish to have the Rng join another PT for awhile and level up off of different things till your all back on the same track. I know this pretty much goes against the whole point of a Static PT but as you move to different areas and fight different Mobs the needs and strength's of your party are going to change. This may require that you as a group make a decision and either deal with it and level up together past it or drop one member for awhile, pick up a more suitable member and get past it. If you do this your should always help the outcast member stay leveled up with you so you may all hook up again. I would say farming is an issue but all classes need to farm at various points in the game, some more then others. You should wait until you all have the right equipment and spells before continuing. Helping each other farm is a very smart thing to do also. Just remember that just because you aren't leveling up together at the moment you are ALWAYS a Static PT and should treat each other like it.

Well, depending on your RDM, I would actually drop the WHM for the BLM. This really depends on the level of your group, but the RDM, BRD, BLM, and PLD should be able to handle curing, imo. And yes, you're going to want a PLD if you're using a RNG and DRK. A blink tank would have a lot of trouble keeping the hate.

But dropping your white mage forces you to lose out on very useful spells like Teleports and Raise II/III.

The bard and red mage are kinda redundant. They have their unique aspects (red mage can probably heal better, and magic burst, while bard has area effect songs, madrigal for melee accuracy, etc.), but most of what they will do in party is similar enough.

The black mage also gives you Warp II which can be incredibly useful.

Well, the problem now is that one of the people who volunteered to be a mage would much rather be a melee. That's why I was wondering how well we could do with a PLD, 3 Damage Dealers, a BRD, and then either a WHM or RDM...

WHM are indispensible for higher level raises, post 55ish. It wont matter if everyone knows what they're doing and you have plenty of failsafes for your leveling area (escape route, etc.).

Our set PT has 5 slots filled (PLD,WHM,BRD,THF,WAR) and the 6th member will be chosen based on what we will level on. We have gone through most garlaige and the crawler part of the nest without a nuker. Most of our damage comes from fuidama/viper from thf and my sneak+sturmwind (reverberation effect for 100+). I wouldnt worry much about nukes until maybe kuftal vs robber crabs. Crawlers, beetles, flies are what you mostly kill until Lv.50. Your RDM is fine for light nukes, having plenty of INT gear helps (learned etude is a plus).

Your initial setup works provided each player knows what they are doing. Remember that in the end, it is not the class, but the player behind the class. You can have the "ultimate party setup" and it wont matter if everyone is completely ignorant.

That setup can work from lvl 1-40ish but between lvl 45-60. Nukers are nice to have.

Example... 2 days ago static partner and I wen to lvl in the CN against Beetles with this pt, pretty much the setup your speaking of.

              war/nin
              sam/war
              pld/war
              whm/blm
              rdm/blm
              drk/war

I think we got the beetle to about 50% before our whm and rdm were out of mana and our pld was dead... lvl49-60 deals with alot of high def towards DD's

The next day we tried something new and It worked

              war/nin
              sam/war
              blm
              blm
              whm/blm
              rdm

Think we got about 15-20k exp in about 3-4 hours. Your going to need mages or really heavy hitters in these lvl's. Its really rough for meeles.

From what you already have .IMO this is what you should aim for .

              pld/war
              whm/blm
              brd/whm
              rng/nin
              [open dd spot]
              [open mage spot]

My friends use this(sam for the dd and smn for the mage) and it has yet fail them from lvl 11-50

I'd drop the whm and get a blm

best PT i've ever had is pld, 2 damage dealers, brd, blm, rdm.

the mp regen is so good that the pld can be his own whm, and the rdm can be main healer otherwise.

also the madrigals make the melees get TP much faster, for more MB and the like

Ok, so I'll exchange the WHM for a BLM, but in losing the WHM, what spells will I not have access to that the RDM won't have?

I say your pt is fine, but personally I'd drop the WHM for a BLM/WHM.

4 jobs in your pt can heal, you have a huge MP regain...a BLM to burst, and a DRK and RNG to beat the shit out of anything...

thanks, And I have talked to the RDM. Since he is Taru he is going to be the BLM, and me, the WHm will be the RDM. Awesome.

In normal pick up party, BLMs are useful, in static PT, BLMs aren't recommended, cause you'll need ports from like level 30 to level 60.

Best PT others have doesn't mean it's ideal for static PTs. It's also good to have more than 1 person with Sneak/Invis until 50.

                            Synbios:

Our set PT doesn't include a whm, but that problem is solved pretty easily.

                            2 Options:

                            1. One of our people has another char, a 58 whm to take us around, then buys a port himself on his other character (the Set one)

                            2. Surely over the course of my first 60 lvls i've made some whm friends? Plenty of ports among my friend list ^-^

Now the melee are complaining that a RDM can't heal because he doesn't have the MP and they say that we NEED a WHM... Any good arguments for convincing them that a RDM can heal just as well and we shouldn't have trouble for 4 characters that can heal.
