For Pete's sake if roleplaying a male is that important to you than don't play Mithra! Prioritize, either numerical min-maxing is important or roleplaying is important, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

This game is all about Gil in the long run anyway. A rich hume will always be better than a poor mithra.

There's not enough herms in video games, instead of male mithras they should make herm mithras. :spin:

Serious though if you are a mithra you can say you are a fem, a male or a herm.. I've seen it before and it's roleplay.

If you don't want to show your legs when wearing pants (wearing shorts and leg stockings whenever it says pants) then be something else.

Just know that whatever you are in rl, mithras will get a reaction by removing it's clothes.

Most of you are saying "oh if you want to be a second rate THF then go ahead and choose Hume" or w/e the case may be. Look at me damnit im an Elvaan THF and i get invited to parties becuase i still do damage. You can always make up for the Mithra DEX boosts by BUYING DEX BOOSTING STUFF. (didnt mean for that to be an angry kind of shout )

Wow. I have been playing mmorpgs for 5 years, more than half that time i was a female *i am a male irl* some of the times i have been a male. It all just depends.

              A few things.

              1. I consider my charicters an extention of myself, but also as differant from me. I think of them as aspects of my personality. I have a set list of what types of charicters i will play as male or as female, becaus thats just how i feel said charicter should be played.

              2. The fact that i play female charicters more than others is simply becaus i find some roles more fun than others.

              3. I do not roleplay, i act like myself *or rather my online psudo self* but i do notice that i tend to act a little differant depending on what im playing. If im playing an offensive mage or a roge like charicter i tend to be a tad more bolsterous and arrogant. If im playing a support class i tend to be a little more serious and focused.

              4. When me and my real life friend play togeather, in game we refer to eachother as 'he' or 'she' depending on what our charicters are. We do not feel wierd or strange or anythinga bout it. The charicter is a he or a she, the real life person isnt going to directly effect much in the game, thus it is the charicter who we must refer to. We also consider our charicters 'not us' but 'us' at the same time. This allows us to talk about our charicters as another person, a person who has the same mind as we do, but a differant person all the same.

              5. Everyone knows that introduceing male mithra would do nothing more than result in hot yaoi action. Now as we all know the major market for yaoi is among females, and being that female gamers are a small percentage, there was no need to include it. (this is sound logic damnit!)

              6. I suspect males who do not want to play female charicters or freak out when they run into someone doing so, are simply insecure. Further a good portion of female gamers play male charicters to prevent from being hit on. I, personaly, will hit on everyone equaly becaus you never know what the person behind the charicter really is, and either way its a game so just have fun and be overly flirtatious =D Remember, GALKA NEED LOVE TO!

wow this subject just keeps poping up again and again.

to all who would be mithra except they cant be a male 1, listen to this.

its ok, how you feel is perfectly natural, its no longer illegal.

sure it's not my cup if tea but if you want some male/male action its no bodies business but your own.

dont worry, many straight ppl play mithra also, you arent going to lose your job because ppl suddenly reaslise you play a mithra.

*and yes i am insinuating that many ppl who ( especially those who feel the need to make thread after thread about it. ) have a problem w/ having a female avatar are extremely insecure about their own sexuality.

**and yes by extremely insecure i do mean they get nervous when they see football on TV.
Is that the scent of love in the air, or merely formaldehyde?

you need to stop worrying about this crap...if ppl are that insecure over their sexuality that they can't pick a female character, then you have personal problems. Honestly, what's the worst that can happen? You get so addicted to your online self that you forget that you were even a guy?

If you're really ashamed to see yourself online as a girl then maybe you all are autogynephilc. Please just get use to it. This is a ridiculoous topic to even discuss.

And, Mod, stop bumping up posts that are over 6 months old!

If this is not about sexual insecurity, I don't know how your avatar gender is any different form its job. Lets assume you don't role-play at all and are only creating an online "extension" of yourself. You are a male so you want to play a male character. But do you really imagine you can be a Samurai, Summoner or White mage IRL? (you don't really have to answer that of course)
                      And what about the race?
Unfortunatly, for most, its all about the stats anyway.
How would playing a female hume would be ay different from playing a big furry monstrous thing? Or a little kneeless midget with big pointy ears? I don't see how it can represent an extension of your self anyway.

                        /sigh

I guess this is what I get bumping back such an old message...

If it means anything to you, it is not about sexual insecurity, but about preference. The same preference of me choosing a character that is Brown Haired vs. Blond Haired...

Now, I had a choice betweem a character model that was at least the same gender as I am vs. a character with the dexterity stats that I wanted. I made the choice (way back when). But to this day I do not agree on making the choice as an EITHER/OR! I do not see the harm of having Male Mithra characters as an option.

PS: Why do people get all defensive and offensive about this subject and start pointing fingers anyways? I am not trying to insult people or anything, just wanted to have an option... kill me why don't you... sheesh...

Not gonna read all 7 pages...but someone on the first page stated to choose Galka if you don't want to be a mithra THF. According to the stat calculator (which only goes up to lvl 59), A Galka THF/NIN would have the same DEX, a little less AGL, and a little more STR compared to a Hume THF/NIN. The gap in those stats might widen from 60-75, not sure.

So it seems Galka might be a LITTLE better than a Hume THF...really all depends on how much that extra STR adds and how much that less AGL subtracts. But Galkas definitely aren't really much better than a Hume THF like the person made it sound.

Anyways, I too wanted to be a Mithra...I just didn't want to be female. I just really wouldn't want to spend days upon days of gameplay as a female character. I like to feel like I'm in the world...I can't really do that when my avatar is a female. This game really disappointed me in the races they offered...but oh well.

I didnt want to read back 7 pages myself, so dont slap me for it.

As far as ive read though, about the whole Mithra deal.. its some traditional thing that only the Females go out and hunt whilst the Males uh.. chill on the couch? lol. Seems their only purpose is to keep the race going a role of which, any sane heterosexual man would love to take up.

But yeh, Male Mithra would be cool to play.. it'd probably be as slim as the females, just with more muscle. ^^

Because everybody knows that what you choose to play online reflects your *true* subconsious sexuality!!

                                /sarcasm

Seriously, though. What's wrong with pretty, effeminate, flexible, highly dextrous Kitty-boys?

Yes, I'm a woman... but my male friends who play the game enjoy whining at least once a session about the need for male Mithras.

Come on. How can playing a *male* mithra mean you're gay? I think it means you just want to be a slight-of-build, cat-ear-wearin' boy. There are plenty of real, human, slight-of-build straight guys out there.

(And on a side note... YES it would be some serious eye candy for those of us with no limits on sexuality. )
Always have time for the Tarus.
