a few questions

Hello, im new to the forums and will be ordering FFXI tomorrow, i'd just like some information about the game before it actually gets here.

1) If i level up a job and get some skills from it, then i change my job, do i keep the skills from the last job?

2) Do i have to buy black mage spells and other spells, if so how much are they?

3) I've seen in other MMORPGs that it is hard to make alot of money, is it the same in FFXI?

4) If i create another character, do i pay a one off payment, or do i pay extra each month for that character?

1) No, when you switch jobs you lose all stats and skills you obtained from them.

2) As a Mage you have to buy spells, I don't actually have the game yet so I'm not sure how much, but obviously the stronger/higher level the spell the more it costs.

3) It's about the same difficulty earning gil as it is earning money in other games... (from what i hear)

4) Adding another character slot is an extra $1 a month you pay an extra $1 on top of your monthly payment, although I think this is good as it encourages people to have only one character (in other games it's been difficult with everyone having multiple characters, it pisses me off) And it's super easy to change your job at any time, so you could start from scratch over and over

I heard somewhere you could keep your skills, just wanted to clear it up.

You keep them in a form, they'll always be there, for example you could level all classes to 10, but until you make them active Primary or Sub, the stats/skills are totally inactive...

They'll always be there, but unless active you don't get the benefits.
