Ranger or Thief?

Hey, I want some people's opinions, I know it's a question like "Just be what you want to be", but I'm having trouble deciding.

I really want to hear from the high level thieves out there and the rangers.

When the patch was coming I was rethinking thief because of the change to sneak attack, but it doesn't really seem all that bad.

But during that time I had look at Ranger and it seemed really enticing.

I liked Ranger because it seemed to do more damage than Thief, but it looks very expensive and I like to have surplus money to help my LS, not a lack of it.

Anyhow, I've found on my Thief that's it's pretty hard to solo(on DC and less!) because of the lack of damage(This is pre-Venom Bite though) and it's a downer.

I love thief and I have invested A LOT of money into it(I already have +9Dex on level 23 Thief ^^)

The real question does Thief actually keep up with the damage that I should be satisfied with it(and I should just want until Venom Bite)?

Or should I just go with Ranger and sarcifice my gil for the damage?

Not to sound mean but you dont understand the kind of dmg that yokodama does and how helpful it is to a party. Hate placement is important. Unless you have 2 equal tanks or u have the lesser tank provoke first and put hate placement on the second one that is behind the monster. It all depends what your focus on in the party would be. Hate placement, dmg, renkai, m-bursts. So If you want dmg go with ranger, if u want treasure finder/gil find go thf.
