what're the most seeked jobs for groups?

i just started the game today and i'm having trouble deciding what job to take up. i originally wanted to do something with monk, maybe thief/monk. i was wondering if this combo gets groups(though i was told monks have trouble grouping). also, i'd like to know what job's get grouped easily other than bard, and what damage and tank jobs get grouped more often. thanks

Surprisingly, this is heavily dependent on what server you are on. On rag, there has been several occasions where I've failed to find a tank >.> Anyways, the group that will get the most invites is probably whm. Practically every group needs one.

I'm not sure if you were misinformed or not, but mnks are quite popular too. They deal good dmg, although they can't take dmg as well.

The best tank job is pld, for sure. The only thing that can actually compete with pld is nin. A good nin can tank just as well, even though they might lose aggro sometimes.

And of course brd... But you knew that from the start anyways.

Thieves aren't that desirable til 30, then the desirability skyrockets.

Til 30 they are techincally damage dealers but don't compare to a dark knight or ranger.

If you tought it out til 30 things i think things will change.

OTOH i think Monk main is the toughest, you have to compete with so many other classes. Even if you have extreme damage output, you may just be 1 level too high or low for a group.

Groups tend to make exceptions for support like a bard, a damage dealer usually has to fit in perfectly level wise.

What Job gets invited to parties the most: Hands down without question, White Mages.

Whm is my sub, and when i go to lvl it i'll get a dozen invites before i even set my "Looking for party" sign on, and then another 2 dozen invites even when i'm in a party asking me to "Come join us instead".

I get invites with my blm no problem, but whm's hands down get more invites then all classes combined.

actually no, brds get more invites than whm. The brd population in rag is 1/4 as much as whm. You're considered lucky if you have a brd in your jobs. Brds can make mp for mages heal fater, and it can make dmg for melee higher. Hands down for brd, not whm.

I think you two are answering different sides of the same question.

WHM is probably the most seeked job for a group, but because there are many more WHM than BRD, WHM is also more likely to be FOUND when you're seeking it. BRD is probably the class that is wanted the most, as long as you qualify "wanted" with "something you don't have."

Saying that RDM has refresh (so BRD is not needed) is like saying that RDM has Cure spells, so WHM is not needed. RDM is a working substitute for those jobs, not a full-on replacement.

Arguile is right. A party can do well without a bard, but a party can do so well if they don't have a WHM. Still BRD is much wuved.

WHM or RDM hands down. Hell, even BLM.

I run with a regular party of Bard, Ranger, Dark, and myself (Ninja), and we spend at least 20-30 mins search all zones for a WHM, RDM, or BLM with WHM sub. To tell you the truth? In the last 4-5 levels, we have not had a WHM in our group because we can never find one. We usually end up with a BLM/WHm and RDM, or 2 BLM/WHMs. They work because I blink tank in those situations pretty much fulltime, but man I have to say WHM post 30 or 40 is nearly impossible to find when you need it.

I swear they are impossible to find. They are the Most wanted.

But how I see it is that, a party can play without a brd. There is no doubt about it. But if you had a choice would you.

Brd make everything go so much faster. It makes it so much easier to lvl. Less down time.


Now if I had to choose I would take the chance with the bard. I mean if someone dies I can always tractor them to a whm.

It's not that they're more important it's that they are more unique. 2 red mages is better healing than 1 white mage. 2 red mages don't replace a bard in any way.

Another factor is that white works well as a sub, bard is virtually useless as a sub.

It's the only class that has absolutely no substitute.

ACtaully at higher levels Arguile is wrong.. (love the condicending tone of voice...makes ya look like a real fool instead of just someone who didn't have the correct answer). at higher levels you can have a rdm/whm with phalinx and refresh allong with a bard/whm as the support part of the party. In fact this becomes an indeal setup for grinding dutues. A simple search of the boards will confirm what I am saying to you. but feel free to lay on the attitude...:angel: :dead: :sweat:

Yes you are so right...i can recall all the times we've sat around waiting for a bard to show up.

We had the whm, the warriors...the blm...but darn it all, we just didn't have the bard. So we wait and wait praying for one to arrive.

Get real. Bards are great to have in parties to speed up the lvling process, but in no way/shape/form are they a class anyone is going to wait around until they find before they go lvling, IF they already have the whm in the party.

But keep arguing and debating and complaining if it makes you feel better. 3 cheers for bards.

I'm going to have to agree with thindol on this one. Bard is by far the most sought after member for a group as you level. Its easy to find healers, bards are rare. No other class speeds up exp grind like a bard. Hence the reason they are the most sought after. Just because a group can get by without them doesnt mean they arent sought after....just rare

And after 40+, a red mage will be taken over a whm by any group that has a clue.
