Crisis of Faith? (Or job, rather.)

Finally got my copy of FFXI and it's completing the patch-thingy as I type. While planning out my character, I'd been thinking about a Mithra White Mage (as I've always played as healers in any online-based game so far). But I just found out that my best friend, whom I'll be pairing up with more often than anyone, I suspect, had chosen that combination already. So, I'm wondering if I should become a thief, as that was my second job choice, and I hope to eventually become a Dragoon.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Would my friend and I be able to hunt as two Mithra White Mages, or should I choose another job?

if you normally play healer jobs, I would strongly consider going taru... the high mp is virtually unreplaceable and at high levels having less hp as a caster matters much less. Tarus also make good thieves from the dex, if you are considering going that route. 2 whms would not be able to solo together much but they would be fine for making a PT. If you are serious about going for the far long term together though, one of you should consider going rdm or even blm (would help make for better PTs)

dont worry too much about the characters and their jobs, everyone works out fine.

I can't Imagine the Elvaan's higher mind makes up for their lack of MP. More mp for healing = more damage healed.
