I had a question about galkas-WHY ISNT ANYONE A GALKA?! Are they not the strongest melee in the game? Or are there disadvantages? I was thinkin bout makin a sam/nin Galka and name him GhangasKhan but no one ever seems to want to play with the Galkas =( Why is this?! GRRR ;P

p.s. what are those crystals next to everyones name above there head in the game?

I wouldn't want to be a Galka well in my opinion because I think that they are big Fags! And if there is a crystal by the person's name it is a linkshell.

Galka's are the best pure melee race in the game. Their HP, VIT, DEX and AGI are all higher than the other big melee race, Elvaan, who only have 4 more STR on average(this is taken from the stat calculator mind you, equipment can change this up in many ways).

I guess most people just don't like the way they look and that they're not that versatile when it comes to efficient job options. People want to be able to try out different things without taking a big penalty in one given area which is mainly MP for the Galka. So the people who want to mainly focus on melee classes but also want to try magic from time to time choose Elvaan, Hume or even Mithra after doing their research. Also, classes like PLD and DRK that follow the same mindset of mainly melee with some magic on the side benefit more from the Elvaan's stat balance.

But in the end I guess people mostly dislike them because of how they look and don't want their online persona looking like that. The good thing about this is that in a game lacking much in player originality or variation in terms of looks people can choose Galka if they want to stand out a bit more.

There's nothing wrong with galkas, they make uber tanks. I just don't like the look of them so I don't play as one. :p

It's probably the looks. Maybe if they had a butch mithra instead of galka, people would play =^_-=

I love having Galka Paladin/Warrior to tank for me. I do yokodama on him 2-3 times a fight and he doesn't die ;3. Matteo... =;_;=

Galka's possibilities are too limited. Tarus can play frontliner, because the stats for it are less restricting. All races can do fairly decently on both front and back lines, but galka can NOT play mage. Why invest so much time and money into a character that can only do half the things that another race can do?

Uh, Galka CAN play a mage. If they weren't supposed to be able to be mages, they wouldn't be allowed to be one, but they can. A galka mage could actually be better than a taru taru mage under certain circumstances. Oh, and galkas also make great monks, warriors, dark knights, samurais, and dragoons. They can be great at any job. You just have to know how to use them right.

If I was incredibly jacked musclehead, and refered to myself as 'dawg' I'd probably play as a galka, but I'm not. I'm a 6'2", 190 lbs white guy with long bleached hair, so I play as elvaan. Thats my reason.
